Elferspot Spotlight: RUF SCR, RWB 964 and 991 GT3 RS

Three cars this week, and on paper they are all of different tastes. The first is a near-new RUF SCR that Alois Ruf delivered to its original owner in person. The second is a 964 that Akira Nakai reworked at RWB headquarters in 2025, with far more going on underneath than the bodywork lets on. The third is a 4,981-mile 991 GT3 RS carrying most of the options people actually shop for. This week's trio: one rear-engined formula, read three ways by RUF, RWB and Porsche itself. 2025 RUF SCR in Golden Classic GALLERY-EMBED Golden Classic is a quiet color for a car this technically serious, and we'd argue that's the smartest thing about it. This SCR was commissioned by its original owner, unveiled at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance and delivered there by Alois Ruf in person. It has covered 1,949 miles since. The Paint to Sample exterior sits over Charcoal leather with black and creme Pepita inserts and Golden stitching, and folding carbon-fiber RUF Lollipop seats share the cabin with a visible-carbon dashboard and doors. Silver lightweight wheels and silver RUF calipers over carbon-ceramic brakes keep the outside from tipping into showpiece territory. Don't let the familiar silhouette fool you. Underneath is RUF's own carbon-fiber monocoque with front and rear spaceframes and an integrated high-strength steel roll cage. The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six makes 510 HP at 8,270 rpm and sends it to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual and a limited-slip differential. With 1,250 kilograms to move, RUF quotes 3.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a 320 km/h top speed, just under 199 mph. The options list covers the sensible stuff too: a front-axle hydraulic lift, a fire extinguisher and magnetic number plates. Broad Arrow is asking $2,295,000. That's a serious number, and it's fair to ask what it gets you over ordering your own. Mostly, it buys time. If you aren't willing to wait years for a bespoke RUF build, here's a fully personal one that's barely through its break-in period. Just know what you're signing up for. Anyone hoping for a RUF that shouts across a parking lot should look elsewhere, because restraint is this car's whole personality. View Listing 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 by RWB GALLERY-EMBED Ferrari Verde Abetone over Porsche Ascot Brown leather is an unusual place to start an RWB 964, and it's the first thing that caught our eye. The donor car is a Japanese-market, non-sunroof Carrera 2, and Akira Nakai converted it at RWB headquarters in 2025. JCARS in Canada is offering it for $285,000, with 75,000 miles showing on the odometer. RWB cars usually get talked about almost entirely in terms of Nakai's bodywork. This one deserves a different conversation, because the hardware reads like a 964 RS wish list. A 3.8-liter flat-six with sport camshafts, estimated at around 325 HP, runs through a shortened five-speed manual, a fresh Wavetrac limited-slip differential and a 964 Carrera RS lightweight clutch and flywheel. The engine mounts, short shifter, anti-roll bars and lightweight interior are RS-derived as well. Öhlins Road & Track suspension, 935-style spring plates and 993 Turbo "Big Red" brakes take care of the chassis, and the exhaust is a Cargraphic system with headers, heat exchangers, catalytic converters and valves feeding an Akrapovič GT3 RS titanium center muffler. Inside are genuine Recaro Pole Position seats, custom gauges and a Porsche Classic head unit. Porsche also removed and serviced the engine less than 2,000 kilometers ago, covering seals, the distributor belt, intake components, fluids and the A/C. A couple of honest notes before you get carried away. That 325 HP figure is an estimate, so ask JCARS what's behind it if the number matters to you. And RWB bodywork paired with this color combination is going to split a room. If you've written these cars off as showpieces, though, this is the one that might change your mind. View Listing 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS GALLERY-EMBED Not every Spotlight car needs a rare color to earn its place. This GT3 RS wears White over Black leather and Alcantara with GT Silver stitching, shows 4,981 miles and, according to the seller, has been dealer-serviced its entire life. Front paint-protection film is already on. Gas Motorcars in Marietta, Georgia, is asking $254,979. The option sheet is where it earns its keep. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, front-axle lift, fixed-back carbon buckets, Sport Chrono, black LED headlights with PDLS and the extended-range 23.9-gallon tank are all here, which covers most of what buyers go looking for on a 991.1 RS. Racing Yellow seat belts and satin-black 20/21-inch GT3 RS wheels supply what little contrast there is. Behind you, the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six makes 500 HP at 8,250 rpm and keeps pulling to 8,800. This was also the car that brought rear-axle steering to the RS line, along with a magnesium roof and carbon fiber for the front lid and front fenders. Now the catch, and for some of you it's a dealbreaker. Porsche only offered this car with the seven-speed PDK, so if a third pedal is non-negotiable, keep scrolling. Everyone else gets a clean, properly optioned RS from just before turbo-era performance and more complicated aero changed what the later cars felt like. White over Black won't turn heads at a show. It doesn't need to. View Listing

Porsche Unicorn: One-Off RUF RCT EVO Speedster Listed for Sale at Graham Rahal Performance

Porsche designed the 964 Speedster around a simple philosophy of open-air driving, but RUF Automobile had something considerably more ambitious in mind. The Bavarian outfit, which famously stunned the automotive world with its 211-mph CTR Yellowbird in 1987, has spent decades pushing the boundaries of air-cooled Porsche performance. More importantly, RUF Automobile is an independent German automobile manufacturer, not merely another Porsche tuning company. Its engineering expertise is on full display in this one-off 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster, now listed through Graham Rahal Performance on duPont REGISTRY with just under 3,500 miles. Now for some context. The Speedster body style traces its roots to the original Porsche 356, with its signature minimalist, open-air driving philosophy carried forward across four generations of the 911. The 964 is particularly special within that lineage, with roughly 945 examples built, including just 15 factory widebody cars. Introduced in 1993, it features the Speedster’s signature low-slung windshield, distinctive double-hump rear tonneau, and minimalist two-seat cabin. The subsequent 993 generation famously never received a series-production Speedster, making the 964 the final regular-production air-cooled interpretation of the formula. Coming to this particular car, it was originally delivered to Japan and first visited RUF's Pfaffenhausen headquarters in 2015 for an extensive restoration. RUF restored the bodywork to bare metal and replaced its original Guards Red finish with Ferrari Rosso Mugello. The transformation also included an engine rebuild, a RUF six-speed manual replacing the original Tiptronic automatic, and a redesigned interior featuring black bucket seats, leather and Alcantara, red carpeting, and RUF instrumentation. <- Gallery -> But apparently, one transformation wasn't enough, because the car returned to Pfaffenhausen again in 2024 for something considerably more ambitious. This time, RUF converted it into an RCT EVO, drawing on the RUF Carrera Turbo program introduced during the early 1990s. Its single-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six now produces 425 horsepower, sending power to the rear wheels through that six-speed manual.  Interestingly, the factory 964 Speedster never featured a fixed ducktail spoiler, something this RUF conversion proudly wears. Its carbon-fiber engine cover introduces a more aggressive rear profile, complemented by lightweight carbon fiber bumpers, contrasting 19-inch five-spoke silver center-lock wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes. Revised suspension uprights and new coilovers complete the mechanical upgrades, helping accommodate the substantial increase in performance.  According to RUF North America, this is the only RCT EVO Speedster ever created, and although this example retains its Porsche chassis identity instead of a RUF W09 designation, its accompanying RUF Zertifikat documents the manufacturer's involvement, adding important provenance to an already unusual creation. Elferspot Spotlight: A Weissach GT3 RS, a Rubystone 964 RS and the “Negroni”

This week's first pick from Elferspot is about as extreme as a current 911 gets: a 992 GT3 RS with the Weissach Package and close to $48,000 in factory options. The second is a Rubystone Red 964 Carrera RS, a Japanese-market car with 15,783 kilometers that heads to auction without reserve in January. And the third is the “Negroni,” a 1979 911 SC that Build2Sample turned into an S/T-inspired widebody, then backed up with a 61-page independent appraisal. The GT3 RS shows where Porsche's aero and chassis engineering has landed today, with nothing held back. The other two are lighter and more analogue, but they get there by very different routes: one was built that way by Porsche in 1992, the other was rebuilt that way by Build2Sample from the engine out. As always, we've kept the history to what helps explain each car. This week's trio: two RS cars 31 years apart and a restomod that brought its own paperwork. 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS With Weissach Package GALLERY-EMBED White is about the least unusual color you can order on a 992 GT3 RS, and on this car it works in its favor. Collective Auto Group is offering the 2023 car with 14,123 miles and roughly $48,000 in factory options. With nothing loud in the paint, your eye goes straight to the exposed carbon and all that aero hardware. Inside, there's Black Leather and Race-Tex with deviated red stitching, and you sit in carbon bucket seats. The $33,520 Weissach Package makes up most of the option spend. Past that, the spec stays on task: the extended-range fuel tank, black PDLS headlights, illuminated carbon-fiber door sills, a leather-covered steering column, black door pulls and a Race-Tex center console. You won't find comfort extras here. Somebody ordered this car around the RS hardware, which is exactly how we'd do it. The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six makes 525 PS and sends it to the rear wheels through PDK. Active aerodynamics, a centrally mounted radiator and DRS combine for up to 860 kilograms of downforce at 285 km/h, about 177 mph, and you can adjust damping, differential and traction settings right from the steering wheel. Collectors hunting delivery-mile cars should know going in that 14,123 miles puts this one outside that club. If you actually plan to drive your RS, that's the appeal: a properly specified car you won't feel guilty adding miles to. View Listing 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS in Rubystone Red GALLERY-EMBED Rubystone Red is enough on its own to make a 964 Carrera RS stand out. This Japanese-market car adds just 15,783 kilometers, which is under 10,000 miles, and a documented history that runs back to its first owner. It left the factory on April 2, 1992, in Rubystone with the Violet, Rubystone and Fraise seat centers that give the cabin its look. RM Sotheby's will offer it without reserve from The Boeckmann Collection on January 28, 2027, with an estimate of $450,000 to $500,000. The Japanese service booklet logs routine maintenance from 1992 through 1996, with the last early entry at 9,990 kilometers. The car stayed in Japan until it came to the U.S. in December 2019, then joined The Boeckmann Collection in November 2022, and both the booklet and the Japanese-language owner's manual are still with it. According to RM Sotheby's, 235 of the 1,987 Carrera RS cars built for the 1992 model year left the factory in Rubystone Red. If you're bidding, it's worth asking what paperwork covers the years after 1996, when the last 5,800 or so kilometers were added. The 964 RS brought the Rennsport badge back to a road-going 911 after a long absence. Porsche started with the rear-drive Carrera 2 and took out weight wherever it could, with thinner glass, an aluminum front lid and a stripped interior, to get down to roughly 1,220 kilograms. The 3.6-liter flat-six was tuned to 260 PS and paired with a five-speed manual and a limited-slip differential, and the suspension was stiffened to suit. Low-mileage RS cars already sit in serious collector territory, but Rubystone paint and early Japanese history push this one further. With no reserve, wherever the hammer falls should be a useful read on the market. View Listing 1979 Porsche 911 SC “Negroni” by Build2Sample GALLERY-EMBED You won't mistake the “Negroni” for any other restomod. Polyantha Red paint, an S/T-inspired wide body and a brown leather cabin see to that. Build2Sample built the 1979 911 SC around a DP-Motorsport CWB conversion, widening the front and rear while keeping the look deliberately period, and trimmed the inside in bespoke two-tone leather with red details and a Porsche California wooden steering wheel and gear knob. It's offered privately in Germany with 15,000 kilometers showing, at EUR 240,000. The work goes a lot deeper than the skin. Build2Sample took the original 3.0-liter flat-six apart and rebuilt it, including the cylinder heads, intake and exhaust passages and ignition, then added Weber carburetors and an Eisenmann sports exhaust for a documented 180 PS. If you shop restomods by horsepower, that figure won't wow you. The five-speed manual was refurbished and given a short-shift conversion, and the chassis got Bilstein dampers, rebuilt suspension components and an overhauled braking system. EUR 240,000 is a lot of money for an SC, and you're paying for the build rather than the car underneath it. That's why the paperwork matters so much. Automotive expert Rainer Wilming completed a 61-page appraisal in June 2024 and gave the car an overall condition grade of 1, with excellent marks for the body, paint, underbody and mechanicals. A restomod has no factory rarity to lean on, so it all comes down to execution, and this one arrives with an independent answer on that question. View Listing

This Low-Mileage V12 Manual on duPont REGISTRY Select Has a Fascinating Big-Screen Connection

Some cars make their case through a format so right it has barely changed in decades- one of the oldest surviving romances in motoring. Two doors, a front-mounted V12, rear-wheel drive, and continent-crossing ability make it the quintessential gentleman’s express. This 2010 Aston Martin DBS, being offered through duPont REGISTRY Select with just 8,618 miles on the odometer, delivers exactly that formula. But its six-speed manual and Casino Royale paint make the story considerably more interesting. Casino Royale was the color worn by the DBS in Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond in the 2006 film of the same name, before the production-ready DBS made its public debut the following year. The car also delivered one of the film’s most memorable stunts, flipping seven times during a high-speed crash sequence and setting a Guinness World Record in the process. The DBS returned in Quantum of Solace in 2008, this time wearing Quantum Silver. Bond’s relationship with Aston Martin stretches much further back, with the great Sean Connery first driving the DB5 in Goldfinger in 1964, starting an association that became inseparable from both 007 and the British marque. Production estimates put the number of Casino Royale coupes at 368, with 269 pairing the color with a manual gearbox. Of those, 251 combined Casino Royale paint, three pedals and the 2+0 configuration seen here, including 173 left-hand-drive examples. That specification becomes more notable against overall production, estimated at 2,534 DBS coupes, including 984 manuals and 1,609 left-hand-drive cars, alongside a further 848 DBS Volantes. The DBS itself was far more than a DB9 with additional power. Design Director Marek Reichman and his team deliberately fused the visual language of the DBR9 GT1 racer with Aston Martin’s traditional DB proportions. Flared arches, enlarged grilles, redesigned side strakes and 20-inch wheels added muscle, while extensive carbon-fiber bodywork saved roughly 66 pounds. A flat undertray and dramatic carbon-fiber rear diffuser reduced lift at speed, while massive carbon-ceramic brakes completed the transformation. The naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 up front produces 510 horsepower, while the six-speed manual helps unlock a factory-rated 191-mph top speed, versus 183 mph for the Touchtronic automatic.  Inside, the Obsidian Black cabin combines DBS-embroidered seats and contrast stitching with carbon-fiber trim, analog dials, Aston’s signature counter-clockwise rev counter and a 13-speaker 1,000-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system. A crystal-topped Emotional Control Unit slots into the dashboard to start the V12, while an analog clock occupies the center stack, adding some old-school ceremony to the experience. The original Aston Martin umbrella remains tucked inside the trunk, reinforcing the distinctly British approach to performance. One thing conspicuously absent, of course, is the assortment of spy gadgets you might expect from a Bond-spec Aston Martin. <- Gallery -> As for the DBS name itself, the nameplate spans three generations dating back to 1967. The second-generation DBS V12 arrived in 2007, followed by the DBS Superleggera in 2018. More than half a century after the original arrived, the storied nameplate and its legacy continue to endure. Hand-built in Gaydon, England, this particular chapter combines traditional grand-touring abilities with race-derived materials, Bond provenance, and an increasingly elusive manual gearbox, creating one of the last great naturally aspirated V12 manuals. It also features prominently on our list of overlooked analog exotics to have on your radar.  View Listing
