Jaguar TCS Racing has defined Jaguar’s motorsport presence in recent years, with its Formula E team being one of the most successful and prominent in the all-electric racing series. Complementing Jaguar’s pivot to electrification, the 2027 Formula E season is approaching, and Jaguar unveiled its first new production model in years just weeks ago: the all-electric Type 01.
Utilizing Formula E technology, innovation, and engineering, the new Jaguar Type 01 boasts high performance and impressive EV engineering solutions. With 1,015 horsepower on tap, tri-motor all-wheel drive, and 3.1 seconds to get from 0-60, the Type 01 is a formidable performance vehicle. However, unlike Jaguar’s Formula E race cars, the new Type 01 offers elegance, luxury, and sumptuous comfort.
Despite those differences, Jaguar has chosen to draw the Type 01 and its Formula E racers closer with the name of its upcoming GEN4 Formula E race car, set to race from the 2027 season of the series onwards: Jaguar I-Type 08. Continuing the legacy begun by the Jaguar I-TYPE 1 in 2016, the new Jaguar I-Type 08 not only succeeds the I-TYPE 7, but also adjusts the nomenclature of the Jaguar Formula E racer to match its powerful all-electric production grand tourer. With the use of sentence case for “Type,” and a leading 0 in the number, the I-Type 08 more prominently demonstrates its relation to the Jaguar Type 01.

On November 10, the new Formula E car will be officially unveiled, debuting publicly in pre-season testing at Circuito de Madrid Jarama in Madrid, Spain, from November 16 to November 20. With the power and innovation of Formula E’s GEN4, the new Jaguar I-Type 08 is ready to deliver more excitement and racing excellence starting with the 2027 Formula E season.
