Lotus Emira 420 Sport Is The World’s Fastest 4-Cylinder Production Car

The Lotus Emira is a modern-day iteration of the quintessential Lotus sports car. With lightweight construction, a focus on exciting agility, a mid-engined layout, and impressive weight distribution, the Lotus Emira continues the legacy of Lotus cars that are known for being celebrated driver-focused sports cars, and the new Lotus Emira 420 Sport is the flagship of the Emira lineup. It’s the most powerful Emira yet, with 416 horsepower coming from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Sport 420 continues a longstanding tradition of Sport-named Lotus models, like the Esprit Sport, the Elise Sport, the Exige Sport, and the Evora Sport. Carrying the torch of decades of previous Lotus models, the Emira 420 Sport is carving out a legacy of its own, as its top speed of 186 mph makes it the world’s fastest four-cylinder production car. Its power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and thanks to that, it also reaches 60 mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds before it gets to that record-breaking top speed. Compared to the standard Emira, the Emira 420 Sport is still a highly road-capable sports car, but adds track-readiness with a lower ride height than the standard car, lowering the center of gravity, and the additional Lotus Lightweight Handling Pack, which adds further weight reductions and race-derived suspension technology. <- Gallery -> Throughout, the new Lotus Emira Sport 420 features increased power, enhanced aerodynamics, lightweight construction, and sharpened dynamics. With a top speed that makes it the world’s fastest four-cylinder production car, however, the new flagship Emira ensures that Lotus’ latest sports car nameplate is permanently etched into the tablet of automotive history. Lotus Reveals The Emira 420 Sport as its Lightest and Most Powerful Emira Ever

Since its founding by engineer Colin Chapman back in 1948, Lotus Cars has always operated under the pretense of honoring traditional British motorsport heritage under its “simplify, then add lightness” design philosophy. It began with the very first racecar Chapman built in a London garage and continues today as the brand evolves its lineup with modern marvels like the Emira. Today, Lotus is proud to reveal its next chapter of performance, honoring the philosophy that built the manufacturer by introducing the new Emira 420 Sport as the most powerful, lightest, and most aerodynamically capable Emira ever built. With a $122,900 starting price, Lotus’ latest variant aims to represent the pinnacle of the Emira lineup and its Focus 2030 strategy, listening to its customers to further improve its sports cars while emphasizing personalization.Starting with the exterior, the Emira 420 Sport shows off new visual updates, including a new front splitter, redesigned front vents, extended side skirts, larger air intakes, a rear lip spoiler, and a louvered tailgate. These key changes support better airflow and cooling throughout the car, increasing air flow to radiators by 15%, brake cooling by 10%, and exhaust valve airflow by 30%, translating to longer track sessions no matter the demanding conditions. Ride height is lowered by 5mm over the standard Emira for better steering precision and balance, which is also achieved thanks to a revised double-wishbone suspension, electro-hydraulic steering, and new performance tires. For those looking to take the Emira 420 Sport to the next level, Lotus will also be offering owners an optional Lightweight Handling Pack. The package promises more than 55lbs of weight savings and 55lbs of downforce over the standard Emira Turbo, adding even more aero and cooling for better overall performance. An exterior carbon package also re-styles the exterior with carbon fiber upgrades to the front splitter, side skirts, wheel arch vents, side pods, rear spoiler, and diffuser. The interior also gets two upgrade options, including a Carbon Fibre Pack that adds lightweight trim throughout the cabin and a Hand Painted Pack that brings pops of Tangelo Orange detailing to areas like the steering wheel, center console, gear lever, and air vents. At the rear, the Lotus Emira 420 Sport is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 415 horsepower, making it the most powerful Emira in the lineup. It accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 186mph. The all-new lightweight, lightning-fast Lotus Emira 420 Sport is now available for order through authorized dealers, with customer deliveries expected for August 2026. Lotus Unveils New 1-of-60 Emira Jim Clark Edition

A Formula 1 racing legend inspires a new exclusive sports car. While its lineup currently consists of electric luxury vehicles with futuristic technology and impressive performance, Lotus has been long celebrated for its agile and incredibly fun to drive sports cars. However, its long history has roots firmly planted in the racing world, and specifically in the intense, prestigious rivalry that is the Formula 1 grid. It was 60 years ago, in 1965, when Jim Clark and Team Lotus made an incredible milestone in the racing world. That year, Clark secured the Formula 1 World Championship with Team Lotus, and also won the Indianapolis 500. His incredible racing talent also resulted in success in that year’s Formula 2 and Tasman racing series, and in touring car races behind the wheel of a Lotus Ford Cortina. The incredible year of racing victory 60 years ago inspired a new exclusive edition of the Lotus Emira, the final combustion-powered sports car model from the brand, the new Jim Clark Edition, created in collaboration with the Jim Clark Trust. Making its debut at the Formula 1 2025 Miami Grand Prix, the new Lotus Emira Jim Clark Edition is based on the V6 variant, with a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine with 400 horsepower. The car is finished with an exclusive Clark Racing Green exterior color with a contrasting black roof, including silver mirrors and a yellow racing stripe reminiscent of historic Lotus racing cars. A special interior is finished in leather and alcantara, with a red driver seat and a black passenger seat, with exclusive badging denoting the special edition, as well. Only 60 examples of the car will be available, a number that reflects the years that have passed since Jim Clark and Lotus achieved an unfathomable racing victory, which is undoubtedly deserving of the stunning homage that is the new Lotus Emira Jim Clark Edition. Stradman's New Lotus Emira Arrives At Lamborghini Salt La...

Stradman is adding a Lotus to his fleet of supercars and hypercars. Whether it be his first Lamborghini Gallardo or his most recent Koenigsegg Agera purchase, automotive YouTuber TheStradman's diverse collection of supercars and hypercars, and love for all things automotive prove his authenticity as a true gearhead. Always adding new vehicles to his ever-growing fleet that resides in both Utah and Arizona, Stradman is often the first to dealerships for new car releases. In his newest upload, James takes a visit to the team at Lamborghini Salt Lake City to check out his newest purchase, a Lotus Emira. But before heading off to the dealership, there were some much-needed inaugural driveway laps in his newly restored mini Lamborghini Countach go-kart. The small-scale ride-on was completely redesigned to match the factory spec of his 1987 Lamborghini Countach 5000QV. Arriving at the Lamborghini Salt Lake City behind the wheel of his Ferrari 812 Superfast, Stradman quickly picks out his bright blue spec in a row of fresh Lotus Emiras. The only thing holding him back from driving the new Lotus off the lot is emissions compliance in the U.S., which has grounded the current Emira deliveries until further notice. Stradman did have a chance to drive and enjoy the interior of his almost-new Lotus, expressing his excitement for key characteristics like its high-desirable 6-speed manual transmission. The Lotus Emira comes equipped with a choice between a 3.5L V6 engine and a more modern 2.0L turbocharged inline-four sourced from Mercedes-AMG. The V6 variant offers up to 400 horsepower, enabling a 0 to 60 mph time under 4.5 seconds, while the 2.0-liter AMG unit doesn't skimp on performance. Both engines are meticulously tuned to deliver an engaging driving experience, with top speeds exceeding 180 mph. Leaving the Lotus Emira at Lamborghini Salt Lake City until he gets the call to come take delivery, Stradman heads off in his custom Jeep Gladiator 6x6 fit with a 6.2L supercharged V8 motor from Dodge SRT Hellcat.
