The New Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Is The Fastest In Its Class At The Nürburgring

By Tyler Rampersaud –  August 04, 2026

The New Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Sets A Nürburgring Record

While it isn’t destined for the States, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a new AMG model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed: the new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. Based on the new CLA, which introduced cutting-edge technology and an all-electric powertrain to the celebrated luxury compact nameplate, the CLA 45 features three axial flux motors, like the new all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. It’s only the second fully electric production vehicle to feature that technology, the first being the GT, and with two motors at the rear and one at the front, the new CLA 45 boasts a massive 680 horsepower, with the ability to get from 0-60 in just 2.7 seconds. As a compact car, its immense power makes it unlike anything else in its segment, and that incredible performance has now been proven on one of the world’s most revered racing venues. That is, of course, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, nicknamed the “Green Hell” for its forest surroundings, its challenging corners, and its dramatic elevation changes. The track puts the world’s best and fastest cars, drivers, manufacturers, and engineers alike to the test, and a lap time on the Nordschleife is not only a measure of driving talent but also of a vehicle’s performance. <- Gallery -> The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 managed to lap the Nordschleife in 7:32.070, making it the fastest car in its segment to lap the track. Taking full advantage of its all-wheel drive system and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires, the summer conditions proved ideal for the new performance electric AMG to prove its abilities on its first attempt. With immense electric performance in a small footprint and cutting-edge technology to make it use its power as efficiently as possible, the new CLA 45 and its Nürburgring record open a new chapter for AMG’s approach to luxury performance engineering. Mercedes-Benz Reveals New Hybrid CLA 220

Mercedes-Benz’s new high-tech compact goes hybrid. Recently, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a new generation of its CLA compact four-door coupe. Initially unveiled as an all-electric model, the CLA was the cradle for a new generation of technology for the historic luxury manufacturer, with the MB.OS being introduced in the car, along with it featuring the fourth generation of MBUX, and AI solutions from tech titans like Microsoft and Google. When the all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA was first introduced, Mercedes-Benz announced that it would be followed up with a hybrid variant, which has now been introduced. The new hybrid powertrain combines a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery that has 1.3 kWh of capacity to power the electric motor. Electric-only driving is available at speeds of up to 60 mph, with a total system output of 208 horsepower and 280 lb/ft of torque. Just like the electric Mercedes-Benz CLA, the new hybrid CLA features some of the most advanced technology Mercedes-Benz is capable of providing yet, with much of the luxury of higher-class Mercedes-Benz models packaged in a compact model. Features like the fixed panoramic glass roof, the MBUX Superscreen, and more give the CLA true Mercedes-Benz luxury while being a small hybrid. To distinguish the hybrid from the all-electric model, the CLA hybrid features a specific grille, with a standard illuminated surround, featuring the Mercedes‑Benz star pattern in chrome. Otherwise, the futuristic styling of the new CLA hybrid is nearly visually identical to its all-electric counterpart. As Mercedes-Benz evolves its technology, both all-electric and hybrid models are part of its cutting-edge offerings, as seen with the new hybrid Mercedes-Benz CLA 220. Mercedes-Benz CLA Gets Wild Life-Size Hot Wheels Makeover

Hot Wheels just turned the new Mercedes-Benz CLA into something you never expected to see in real life: a full-scale art piece. Unveiled at Race Service in Los Angeles, the car is a wild, exaggerated take on the CLA, complete with oversized diffusers, a massive rear wing, and paintwork straight from 1980s pop culture, think bright orange, pink, and blue with retro flames.  The vibrant color mix transforms the CLA from a sleek compact coupe into a super sports caricature. This one-off isn’t just for show, though. It heads next to the Hot Wheels Legends Tour in El Segundo, and later today, that is October 4, you'll get a chance to see it up close. The toy DNA is obvious, and that’s exactly the point. Hot Wheels calls this project “Play Beyond Limits.” The idea is simple: playing sparks creativity, and for many of you, that likely began with a diecast model. The intent with this exhibit is to channel that childhood imagination and fuse it with the real-world design language of Mercedes-Benz. This collaboration is part of Mercedes-Benz’s “Class of Creators” program, which kicked off with the CLA world premiere in Rome on March 13, 2025. Instead of keeping collaborations limited to co-branded merch, the German automaker is handing designers, musicians, and artists the keys to its models.  Past collaborations include Virgil Abloh, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Roger Federer, and fashion houses like Moncler. Since then, Ice Spice, Gustaf Westman, and KidSuper have each revealed their own takes on the car, with League of Legends set to follow. The Hot Wheels CLA closes out this year’s lineup, but it sets the bar high by reminding you that the line between play and performance is thinner than you think. A 1:64-scale diecast version will hit shelves in spring 2026, giving you the chance to park a piece of this collaboration on your desk or in a glass display case. If you’re an adult collector, this is one to mark on your calendar. If you’re an enthusiast who grew up with Hot Wheels tracks looping across your living room, this latest project shows how Mercedes is serious about tying culture, art, and design directly into its product strategy. Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ (2019)

By Andrew Nabors –  July 05, 2019

2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Will Arrive With 382 Horsepower!

Usually, July 4th is devoid of automotive news, but not this year. In order to dominate the sport compact market, Mercedes-AMG loaded their smallest sedan and hatch with unprecedented power. In a press release last night, we've learned that the 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will arrive with 382 horsepower. To accomplish this, they have raised the bar for 4-cylinder engines. Hot aluminum is poured into a chilled mold, making for a very dense & strong bottom end. Forged internals with low-friction coatings allows it to easily hit 7,200 rpm. Each piston ring is fit by hand, as part of the "One Man, One Engine" program. The turbocharger is one of the pair found on the AMG GT S sedan, and it forces 30 lbs of boost into the cylinders. This produces 354 lb-ft of torque between 4,750 and 5,000 rpm. Because of this brutal power, engineers decided to stiffen the chassis in every area. Shear plates and a strut brace will keep the ride smooth, even in drift mode. The AWD models (4MATIC+) have electronic variable rear differentials. With a clutch pack for each rear axle, you will be able to hold the perfect line through the corners. Our dealers have all the info, so click the link below to find a CLA near you! Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC Shooting Brake (2019)Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC Shooting Brake (2019)

2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake Unveiled

Don't call it a wagon or a 5-door crossover, because this combines the best features of both. Earlier this morning the 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake was unveiled. It is the 5th model in the A-Class lineup, and it packs a punch. The 2.0L turbo four sends 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. The 4MATIC system can send all the power where it is needed at an instant. To keep the turbo spinning, engineers shortened the gear ratios inside the 7-speed dual clutch transmission. It would be fun to have to have a pure RWD experience, but only 50% of torque can be sent rearward. Although they see it as a benefit, the ignition pauses for a split second during shifts to prevent wear on the clutches. Search Our Entire Inventory of Exotic Cars Despite these compromises, the Shooting Brake will be popular thanks to the styling and versatility. The longer roof adds stiffness to the rear chassis, and it offers more cargo room for family outings. Because the rear is stronger than the sedan, engineers also added a shear plate and chassis braces to the front suspension. The result is a comfortable ride with incredible handling. The press release didn't mention if it would be sold in the U.S., so our dealers can answer that question for you.
