McMurtry Automotive Reveals The Final Production Spec Of The $1.3M Spéirling PURE

By Tyler Rampersaud –  July 02, 2026

McMurtry Spéirling Pure Production Spec Revealed

In 2022, McMurtry Automotive made a splash at the Goodwood Festival of Speed when a prototype of its Spéirling electric track-only hypercar broke the Goodwood Hillclimb record. After that, the Spéirling broke the Top Gear test track record in 2025, which was previously held by a 2004 Renault F1 car, and it also became the first car to ever drive upside down in 2025. Now, the final production version of the Spéirling PURE has been unveiled, and it’s a track-only, all-electric hypercar with some of the most impressive performance-focused engineering in the automotive world. It’s the result of a decade of research and development with thousands of miles of testing accumulated by the prototypes, and the production version features 95% new components compared to the prototypes. About the new production Spéirling, Thomas Yates, co-founder and managing director of McMurtry Automotive, said, “The Spéirling PURE marks the beginning of a new era in track driving with mind-bending performance to suit all levels of owner, from weekend enthusiasts to professional drivers. In production form, the car is significantly more usable, but no less outrageous. In terms of exhilaration, grip, acceleration, sound, aesthetics and technology, we offer something that no other manufacturer is able to.” <- Gallery -> Compared to the prototype, the production Spéirling PURE features an increased battery capacity of 100kWh, a standardized battery design, an increased wheelbase, a new carbon fiber monocoque, a swan neck-style wing, headlights, new fan blades for its Downforce-on-Demand system, a new hydraulic-assisted power steering system, and many more tweaks and improvements. The ownership of the new McMurtry Spéirling PURE is designed to be a “plug-and-play” experience. Track days and competitive events are a perfect venue for the Spéirling PURE, with little effort required to run the car, but a full factory support program is available as well. The new Spéirling PURE also boasts eligibility for Global Time Attack and European Time Attack Masters. During the order process, customers get the privilege of working with an in-house designer to create a truly bespoke car. At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, a McMurtry Spéirling PURE will be on display, with its official public debut set for August at one of Monterey Car Week’s most prestigious events, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. With a 0-60 time of just 1.55 seconds, a top speed of 190 mph, 4,400 lbs of downforce from a standstill thanks to its Downforce-on-Demand, and 1,000 horsepower on tap, the Spéirling PURE is one of the most exciting new track-only hypercars yet, and it will carry a starting price of roughly $1.3 million, with deliveries set to begin later in 2026. Why This New Hypercar Startup Is Rethinking the Driver's Seat

By Jordan Aquistapace –  June 24, 2026

Why This New Hypercar Startup Is Rethinking the Driver's Seat

While automotive design differs in many ways, giving each car, truck, and SUV its own personality and identity through distinct visual characteristics, the fundamental design principles remain the same. The position of the driver has been one of those constants since the beginning, with street-legal cars like the Gordon Murray T.50, McLaren F1, and McLaren Speedtail pushing that boundary with a center-seat design. Sanrivatti, a new automotive startup based in the Netherlands, is challenging that idea even further by developing a hypercar centered on its revolutionary ‘Apex Position’.The idea comes from founder Santiago Sánchez Rivero's fascination with motorcycles. On a superbike, riders feel every movement, every shift in weight, and every change in direction almost instantly. Instead of positioning the driver behind the front axle in a low, reclined seating position like most hypercars, Sanrivatti moves the driver farther forward within the chassis. The goal is to create a stronger connection between the driver and the car while improving visibility, awareness, and overall engagement. Moving the driver forward also offers a larger field of view, which helps with placement, especially during high-speed track sessions. The brand says its developing new technology that will allow the driver to move more naturally with the car during acceleration, braking, and cornering. While the vehicle itself is under development, Sanrivatti has already started assembling a team with experience in the automotive industry. One of the most notable additions is Paul Arkesden, who joins as Executive Director of Technology Partnerships. His resume includes leadership positions at Singer Vehicle Design, McLaren Automotive, McLaren Special Operations, and work on the legendary McLaren P1 program. Commercial advisor Geoff Dowding also brings decades of experience from Lotus, Bentley, Harley-Davidson, and Al Habtoor Motors.  The hypercar market has grown significantly, with manufacturers competing for higher top speeds and more horsepower. Sanrivatti will be taking an entirely different route by focusing on the driver, cockpit design, and the connection between human and machine. If its Apex Position delivers, it could offer one of the more interesting new ideas the hypercar world has seen in years. Source: Sanrivatti

A Koenigsegg Jesko And An F1 Car Were Crane-Lifted Onto A $75 Million Superyacht In Monaco

One of the highlights of Formula 1’s action-packed, global calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix has not only become a historic event in itself, but it's also evolved into an ultra-luxury showcase of wealth. From hypercar-lined streets leading up to the race to a marina packed with some of the most expensive superyachts you’ve ever seen, it seems as though every year becomes bigger and better. Over the past few Monaco Grand Prix weekends, an unofficial tradition has emerged of displaying rare supercars and hypercars on the decks of yachts. The viral trend was popularized by Ultimate Superyacht founder Tom Claeren, who first drew attention with a Ferrari F40 before following it up in later years with a McLaren Solus GT. This year, just days away from the kickoff, Claeren and his team have organized a serious spectacle for the weekend, featuring a Formula 1 race car, a multi-million dollar hypercar, and a monumental work of automotive art. And if you’re wondering what type of vessel holds the type of space needed to display these full-size masterpieces, while also meeting the requirements of the Monaco Marina, it’s the massive 236-foot ‘Stella Maris’ built in 2015 by Italian shipyard Viareggio Superyachts. Designed to accommodate 12 guests and 19 crew members with a luxurious seven-cabin layout, a week of chartering Stella Maris on the open sea will cost you $755,500 during peak season. Ample deck space on the bow, stern, and onboard helicopter pad proved perfect for displaying an Audi Revolut F1 Team race car, a brand-new Koenigsegg Jesko, and a Formula 1 sculpture by French sculptor Antoine Dufilho. And while seeing these perched on the deck of a $75 million superyacht during one of the biggest weekends on F1’s calendar is an event in itself, witnessing the process of making this all happen is just as impressive. Tom Claeren took to Instagram to show just how much work goes into organizing and executing the incredible feat. With a large crane sitting dockside and a team of eyes to make sure every move was precise, the Audi Revolut F1 race, Koenigsegg Jesko, and F1 sculpture were hoisted into the air and onto the superyacht for all of Monaco to see. Now that you have a first-hand sneak peek at what’s to come this weekend during the Monaco Grand Prix, tune in to see if you can catch a glimpse of Stella Maris and its four-wheel VIP guests.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tom Claeren - Monaco (@tomclaeren)   Source: @tomclaeren Instagram

Maserati Reveals Full Lineup For Motor Valley Fest 2026

Maserati Reveals Full Motor Valley Fest Lineup With MCPURA, Fuoriserie, And Racing Icons

Earlier this month, we touched on Maserati’s plans for the upcoming eighth edition of the Motor Valley Fest, where the Italian marque confirmed it would host two exclusive “Trident Talks” events at its historic Modena headquarters. That announcement formed part of a wider year-long celebration marking 100 years of the Maserati Trident and the brand’s first motorsport appearance at the 1926 Targa Florio. Now, with the festival just days away, the Italian marque has revealed the full scale of its presence across Modena as it marks one of the most important milestones in its 112-year history. The centerpiece will be the new Maserati McPura, displayed in the courtyard of the Modena Military Academy, wearing a striking Ai Aqua Rainbow finish created through Maserati Fuoriserie, the Italian marque’s bespoke customization program. The iridescent paint shifts under sunlight, revealing pearlescent blue tones inspired by the breakdown of light through a prism. It is a fitting showcase for a car assembled at Maserati’s Viale Ciro Menotti factory, the same historic site where the company continues to build the GranTurismo, GranCabrio, GT2 Stradale, and other halo models. The festival also arrives just weeks after Maserati officially marked the April 25 centenary of the Trident emblem designed by Mario Maserati and the debut of the legendary Maserati Tipo 26 at the Targa Florio. That race launched Maserati’s motorsport legacy when Alfieri Maserati secured victory in the 1500cc class and eighth overall. The company has since celebrated the milestone with a dedicated heritage campaign, a commemorative Italian postage stamp, and a new video tracing Maserati’s evolution from the Tipo 26 to the MC20 and modern GT2 race program. Beyond the display cars, Maserati will once again open the doors of its historic Viale Ciro Menotti headquarters for the previously announced “Trident Talks.” Hosted inside the Ron Arad-designed showroom and the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE atelier, the sessions will feature senior executives, designers, historians, and special guests, including Massimo Bottura, Matteo Panini, and Alberto Maserati. Topics will range from the Trident’s century-long evolution to the future of Maserati personalization and racing. The broader Motor Valley Fest schedule will also include conferences featuring Maserati leadership discussing global automotive trends, heritage preservation, customer experience, and the future of racing, with appearances from Santo Ficili, Maserati COO and Alfa Romeo CEO, and Vincent Biard, Head of Maserati Corse. The event will once again transform Modena into the center of Italy’s auto industry, bringing together more than 2,900 companies connected to Emilia-Romagna’s famed Motor Valley region. The Wildest Indianapolis 500 Pace Cars Ever to Lead the Field

The Wildest Indianapolis 500 Pace Cars Ever to Lead the Field

The Indianapolis 500 is all about speed, tradition, and one of the most famous words in motorsports: “Drivers, start your engines!” But before the green flag ever drops, another vehicle gets its own moment in the spotlight. The pace car has become one of the race’s longest-running traditions, leading the field around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway before releasing 33 drivers into battle at more than 200 mph. The tradition dates back to the very first Indianapolis 500 in 1911, when Speedway founder Carl G. Fisher introduced the concept of a rolling start as a safer alternative to the standing starts used at the time. Over the decades, the role of the Indianapolis 500 pace car evolved from a simple support vehicle into a major marketing opportunity for automakers. Manufacturers began using the race as a stage to debut new models, special editions, and even futuristic concepts. Over the years, it's resulted in a pace car history packed with icons, unexpected choices, and a few vehicles that left fans scratching their heads. Here are 10 of the wildest and weirdest Indianapolis 500 pace cars ever to lead the field. 10. 1934 LaSalle Convertible Credit: Hyman Ltd. The 1934 LaSalle Convertible pace car reflected the early era of the Indianapolis 500, when luxury and prestige were just as important as performance. With its flowing Art Deco styling and coachbuilt-focused design, it set the tone for the field in a time when pace cars were still a relatively new tradition at the Speedway. That year’s race was won by Bill Cummings, who dominated the event from the pole position at a time when track conditions were less than optimal. 9. 1984 Pontiac Fiero Credit: The American Muscle Car Museum The 1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy 500 Pace Car brought something completely different to the Speedway, becoming the smallest pace car in Indianapolis 500 history and the first to feature a 4-cylinder engine. Pontiac used the mid-engine sports car to showcase a new direction for affordable American performance, while the race itself saw Rick Mears capture his second Indy 500 victory, after starting from pole position and finishing standing at the podium. 8. 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Credit: The American Muscle Car Museum  The 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Indy 500 Pace Car stood out solely for its size. Cadillac participated at a time when the brand was known for smooth cruising, not track duty. Cadillacs of that era were never designed with racing or agility in mind, which highlighted just how much the pace car tradition was about American style. That year’s race was won on lap 133 by Gordon Johncock due to a heavy rain stoppage, driving the No. 20 STP Eagle-Offenhauser. 7. 1962 Studebaker Lark Daytona Convertible Credit: Classic Auto Mall The 1962 Studebaker Lark Daytona Convertible was yet another surprising choice for Indianapolis 500 pace car duties, bringing compact and sporty character to the front of the field during an era dominated by larger American cars. Studebaker used the opportunity to spotlight its newly introduced Daytona trim, putting the brand on a national stage. The 1962 Indianapolis 500 witnessed Rodger Ward win his second Indy 500 victory after a hard-fought race. 6. 1990 Chevy Beretta Credit: The American Muscle Car Museum The 1990 Chevrolet Beretta Indy Pace Car brought a more modern, sporty look to the Indianapolis 500, showcasing Chevrolet’s front-wheel-drive coupe. A specially prepared convertible version led the field and helped give the Beretta some track-performance credibility outside of its everyday commuter look. At the 1990 Indianapolis 500, Arie Luyendyk took the win while setting a race record for the fastest average speed in Indy 500 history, a mark that stood for more than two decades. 5. 1941 Chrysler Newport by LeBaron Credit: Darin Schnabel Courtesy of RM Sotheby's The 1941 Chrysler Newport Indianapolis 500 Pacemaker by LeBaron stands out as one of the most unique pace cars in Indy history, with its handcrafted design, sleek pre-war styling, and luxury-focused Chrysler Imperial roots. It also arrived at a major turning point, as the final Indianapolis 500 before World War II was paused for four years. That year’s race produced one of Indy’s strangest finishes as Mauri Rose took over Floyd Davis’ car mid-race, with the two ultimately sharing the victory. 4. 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Credit: Mecum Auctions  The 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car was very much a product of its time, when Indy pace cars were chosen for purely brand exposure. Built as a comfortable, mainstream American convertible, it was never intended to be a track-ready race car, which made its appearance leading the field at Indianapolis all the more entertaining for fans. That year’s race was won by Rick Mears, leading the final 78 laps to secure the first-ever Indy 500 victory for Chevrolet engines. 3. 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada Credit: The American Muscle Car Museum  The 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada was one of the most unusual choices to ever lead the Indianapolis 500 field, making history as the first SUV selected as the race’s official pace vehicle. It also marked one of Oldsmobile’s final major moments before the brand was discontinued, turning the Bravada into an unexpected piece of Indy history. The 2001 race saw Hélio Castroneves score his first Indianapolis 500 win, the start of a career that would eventually make him one of the event’s all-time greats. 2. 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora Credit: The American Muscle Car Museum The 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora Indy 500 Pace Car showed up at Indianapolis as an example of Oldsmobile’s attempt to modernize its lineup, but underneath it was still a big sedan built for comfort, not competition. Other than its V8, the Aurora lacked the aggression and engineering focus of a true pace car, making its role on race day more about marketing and brand identity. The 1997 Indianapolis 500 was won by Arie Luyendyk, who delivered one of the fastest runs in the event’s history. 1. 2003 Chevrolet SSR Credit: Mecum Auctions The 2003 Chevrolet SSR Indy 500 Pace Car was one of the more unconventional choices in Indy history, using Chevrolet’s retro-styled convertible pickup to lead the field at the Speedway. More of a showpiece, the SSR took to the track in a bright purple finish with a 290-horsepower 5.3L V8. The 2003 Indianapolis 500 itself was won by Gil de Ferran, his first and only win at Indy before retiring later that year. Source: Indy Motor Speedway

Is Swatch About to Drop an Audemars Piguet Collab?!

Is Swatch About to Drop an Audemars Piguet Collab?!

One of the best things about the watch world is the range and diversity that it offers collectors and enthusiasts, whether you’re a newcomer just dipping your toe in for the first time or a full-blown horologist just looking to add to an already impressive collection. Now, this doesn’t mean you have to buy a $40,000 watch to consider yourself a watch lover; there’s a shared appreciation for everything that keeps time, and price means nothing when it comes to passion. In 2022, Swatch blurred the line through a creative collaboration with Omega, and after four years, the Moonswatch collection is still recognized as one of the most monumental moments in watch history.  Lightning may strike twice for Swatch after a recent Instagram post has the watch world speculating on an upcoming collaboration with Audemars Piguet. While no actual visuals or renderings of watches have been shared to confirm this, the mysterious post teases a May 16th reveal with subtle hints that watch enthusiasts deciphered in seconds. The biggest clue is the unmistakable Audemars Piguet font, especially the overlapping lettering that’s become a signature of the Royal Oak logo. As surprising as this all feels, the real question now is whether it’ll land anywhere near “affordable” territory, something we last saw play out with the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch. For now, only time will tell. And if this is all totally new to you and you’re wondering what the big deal is, here’s a quick history lesson on the legendary Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, which hasn’t always stood out as a collector's gem. The Royal Oak first showed up in 1972, designed by Gerald Genta practically overnight, with its now-famous octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet. Back then, the idea of a luxury steel sports watch felt overlooked in an era when dress watches were all the craze. It took time, but what once felt out of the box slowly became iconic, turning the Royal Oak into one of the most influential watches ever made. So stay tuned in to duPont REGISTRY for a first look at Swatch’s possible partnership with Audemars Piguet on May 16th. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Swatch (@swatch)

Caterham Debuts Ultra-Limited Miami Special Edition Seven During Race Weekend

As Formula 1 rolls into Miami this weekend, Caterham Cars is turning its attention to South Florida with the debut of a highly exclusive model. Against the backdrop of one of motorsport’s most vibrant global stages, the marque’s new Miami Special Edition Seven will be unveiled during the upcoming race weekend in Miami, bringing a distinctly tailored expression of British craftsmanship to an audience synonymous with luxury and high-performance culture. Based on the Seven R, the limited-run model channels the energy of the city through a bespoke Aqua finish, complemented by Vibrant Pink and White decals designed to reflect Miami’s colorful automotive identity. The exterior is further distinguished by signature Miami script and a silhouette of the circuit positioned at the rear – subtle yet unmistakable cues that tie the car directly to its debut setting at the Miami International Autodrome. The design narrative continues inside, where the cabin reflects the same level of personalization and craftsmanship. Miami script is embroidered into the headrests, while an individually numbered plaque is mounted on the dashboard. In keeping with the brand’s hand-built ethos, each example also features a second plaque within the engine bay, engraved with the names and signatures of the two artisans responsible for assembling the car at Caterham’s UK factory – an intimate detail that underscores the exclusivity of each build. Performance remains central to the experience. This track-only Miami Special Edition is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine, producing 210 bhp at 7,600 rpm. With a power-to-weight ratio of 375 bhp per tonne, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, the car delivers a 0-60 mph time of just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 136 mph – figures that reinforce its lightweight, driver-focused philosophy. Motorsport enthusiasts attending the race weekend will have their first opportunity to see the car in person on Friday, May 1, on Race Street, located within the West Campus of the Miami International Autodrome. The unveiling positions Caterham within an event widely recognized for its blend of high-performance racing, world-class entertainment, and a guest list that spans industry leaders, celebrities, and collectors. “Miami has become a global hub for elite motorsport and luxury automotive culture, so to have this moment to unveil the Miami Special Edition is truly unique,” said Trevor Steel, senior vice president of operations at Caterham Cars. “This car represents the very best of lightweight British engineering, and seeing the car launched and on display at the race weekend will be a significant moment for our brand.” Caterham’s presence at the event also reflects a broader strategic focus on U.S. expansion. The company recently appointed Walt Grace Vintage as its latest American dealer, further strengthening its footprint in a market increasingly defined by luxury automotive demand. In parallel, the brand has announced a partnership with Precision Drive Club, an invitation-only membership community based at the Miami International Autodrome that is curated around world-class driving and hospitality experiences. Exclusivity, however, remains paramount. Just 12 examples of the Miami Special Edition Seven will be produced, with 10 made available for purchase through Caterham’s U.S. dealer network following the race weekend. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, it presents a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Caterham’s evolving presence in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive destinations – where craftsmanship, culture, and performance converge.

Broad Arrow Auctions Sells a GMA T.50 for a Record-Setting $8,035,000

Broad Arrow Auctions Sells a GMA T.50 for a Record-Setting $8,035,000

Broad Arrow Auctions achieved a record-setting result yesterday, with the $8,035,000 sale of a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 during a single-car live auction held at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort in Paso Robles, California. The event took place as an official stop along the California Mille rally, marking the first public North American auction of the T.50 and setting a new benchmark price for Gordon Murray’s flagship hypercar in the global collector car market. The record-setting result proves that there’s a growing demand for modern analog hypercars with low production numbers and motorsport-derived engineering. Patrick Ernzen/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions The example sold, chassis 009, is one of 100 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s and was delivered in near-new condition, with fewer than 30 miles on the odometer. Finished in bespoke Reef Red, the GMA T.50 features a 3.9L naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 engine with 661 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and a maximum redline of 12,100 rpm. Power is managed through a six-speed manual transmission, working in unison with active aero and a fan-assisted ground-effect system. With a dry weight under 2,200lbs, the T.50 is recognized as one of the most driver-focused modern hypercars, conceived by Gordon Murray and inspired by his involvement on the McLaren F1. Andrew Snucins/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions The auction took place during a private dinner for California Mille guests, where multiple bidders competed in the room before the final hammer. The buyer was identified as a rally participant, where five examples of the T.50 were showcased. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation and McPherson College Automotive Restoration Program, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
