The Ultimate Porsche 911 Turbo Buying Guide

When the Porsche 911 Turbo first hit the road in the mid-1970s, it instantly made waves throughout the automotive world. Known internally as the 930, it took the classic 911 silhouette and dialed it up with a turbocharged engine that packed a punch like nothing else from Porsche at the time. That iconic whale tail spoiler was a statement piece that wasn't just for looks, as it helped provide downforce on high-speed straights. The 911 Turbo redefined what a high-performance road car could be, combining race-bred engineering with street-ready drivability. Over the years, each generation of the 911 Turbo has raised the bar in both performance and luxury. From the raw, boost-heavy punch of the air-cooled 930 to the modern 992 Turbo S that hits 60 mph in under 3 seconds, the Turbo badge has come to symbolize the sweet spot in the 911 range. Porsche's ability to evolve the car with cutting-edge tech, active aerodynamics, all-wheel drive, and twin-turbo flat-sixes without losing its soul has kept the Turbo relevant for decades. What really sets the 911 Turbo apart is how it balances brute force with timeless beauty. The widened rear arches, integrated rear spoiler, and muscular stance give it unmistakable presence without going over the top. Inside, it's the perfect blend of high-quality materials, sleek digital displays, and that classic five-dial instrument cluster that ties the past to the present. Whether specced with two-tone leather, carbon fiber trim, or subtle aluminum finishes, the cabin always feels tailored like a designer suit built for speed. The Porsche 911 Turbo has always represented the best of both worlds: uncompromising performance and luxury that doesn't shout. It's a car that's just as at home carving up mountain passes as it is pulling up to a black-tie event. And after nearly 50 years of evolution, it remains the ultimate expression of what a Porsche road car should be. Thanks to its twin-turbocharged flat-six engine and all-wheel drive, the 911 Turbo delivers supercar speed with everyday usability. What's the best generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo? The best generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo really depends on what you’re after, but many enthusiasts love the 997 Turbo for its raw feel and everyday usability. With its iconic Mezger engine, modern tech, and timeless design, it’s often seen as the sweet spot in 911 Turbo history. What's the difference between a 911 Turbo S and a 911 Turbo? The main difference between a 911 Turbo and a 911 Turbo S comes down to power and performance. The Turbo S packs more horsepower, quicker 0–60 times, and extra features like carbon-ceramic brakes and active suspension upgrades, making it the top-tier choice for those who want the ultimate Porsche 911 experience. Is the 911 Turbo the fastest Porsche ever made? The 911 Turbo is definitely one of the fastest Porsches ever made, but it’s not the fastest. That title goes to the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Porsche Design and Hodinkee Revive a Legendary Chronograph

Some watch collaborations simply put two recognizable names on the dial, while others actually bring something meaningful back to life. The latest Porsche Design and Hodinkee collaboration falls into the latter category, revisiting one of the most recognizable chronographs of the late 1970s and 1980s. The new Porsche Design Chronograph 1 Utility–Limited Edition for Hodinkee is limited to just 350 pieces, but the bigger story is the return of a movement that collectors have been waiting more than two decades to see again. The watch takes inspiration from Porsche Design’s military Chronograph 1 models, which were built around the idea that a chronograph should be easy to read, dependable, and useful first and foremost. That philosophy came through most famously with the Lemania 5100, an automatic chronograph movement known for its unusual central chronograph-minute hand, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, running seconds at 9 o’clock, and 24-hour indicator at 12 o’clock. It eventually disappeared after the movement was discontinued, leaving vintage Porsche Design military chronographs and other Lemania 5100-powered watches popular among collectors.Porsche Design essentially took that formula and rebuilt it. The newly developed WERK 01.340 brings back the central chronograph-minute display and 24-hour indication while adding modern performance, COSC certification, and a 60-hour power reserve. The 42mm case is made from uncoated titanium, keeping things lightweight and tying the watch back to Porsche Design’s earlier titanium chronographs. Even the dial stays focused on functionality, with a blacked-out design, red accents, Super-LumiNova, a 12-hour chapter ring, and the simple “Utility” designation at 3 o’clock. The watch comes fitted on a matching titanium bracelet, but Porsche Design and Hodinkee also include an Agave Green leather Bund strap made from material inspired by Porsche sports-car interiors. A quick-change system makes it easy to switch between the two without tools, giving the watch a more traditional military-watch appearance when desired. The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 Utility–Limited Edition for Hodinkee is also the second chapter of the brands’ three-part collaboration, following the 2024 Chronograph 1–Hodinkee Edition. Limited to 350 pieces worldwide, it launched on October 1 for $9,650, with 100 examples allocated exclusively to Hodinkee and Watches of Switzerland in the U.S. Source: Porsche Design/Hodinkee

Porsche Wins The 2026 Petit Le Mans

Outside Atlanta, Georgia, the Petit Le Mans endurance race at Road Atlanta served as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s season finale, and emerging victorious was Porsche. The number 6 Porsche 963 LMDh hypercar won the race in difficult circumstances: 16 safety car deployments, a red-flag interruption, and heavy rain. With its 1.205-second lead, the victory marked the first time ever that a manufacturer clinched victory at Daytona, Sebring, and Road Atlanta in one IMSA season. Meanwhile, the number 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport car ran alongside its counterpart for much of the race, but was forced to retire due to an accident about 90 minutes before the end of the race. Finishing the season in second place in the manufacturer standings for the season, Porsche emerged victorious for a third time in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, consisting of Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, and Road Atlanta. Porsche’s 963 hypercar has remained the most victorious LMDh racing hypercar since the regulation was introduced in 2023. Combining innovative hybrid technology with the pinnacle of endurance racing engineering, the group of top-class hypercars represents some of the most ambitious, futuristic, and powerful vehicles in the racing world. <- Gallery -> About his victory, driver Laurens Vanthoor of the number 6 Porsche 963 commented, “I have no idea how we pulled this off. We all did a perfect job: Porsche, the Porsche Penske Motorsport team, and us drivers in the cockpit. A difficult season is thus coming to an end with an absolute highlight. After this nail-biter at Road Atlanta, I’m exhausted and very happy.” Alongside the 963 hypercars in the race, the Porsche 911 GT3 R was present throughout as well, with AO Racing’s iconic “Rexy” finishing in second place in the GTD Pro class, and the Manthey 1st Phorm 911 GT3 R finishing second in the GTD category. As Porsche celebrates 75 years of motorsport this year, Petit Le Mans brought the manufacturer a milestone victory and the conclusion of yet another successful IMSA season. How The Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport Is Made

Porsche recently revealed the 911 GT3 Bergsport, which is based on the 911 GT3 Touring but, exclusively for Europe, features a special configuration that pays homage to alpine hillclimb racing, something integral to early chapters of Porsche’s history. Only 100 units of the Bergsport will be made, and the manufacturer’s Exclusive Manufaktur division, with incredible craftsmanship, is what brings the highly exclusive special edition to life. The car starts life, of course, in Zuffenhausen, beginning as any Porsche 911 would in production there. The Bergsport is one of a total of 25 different variants of the legendary sports car, thanks to a flexible production system that has evolved for over 60 years. It takes an average of four days to build a Porsche 911, with robots and people working in conjunction to combine precision with passionate craftsmanship and skill. However, Exclusive Manufaktur adds some extra steps to the Bergsport’s manufacturing process. Although it’s applied in the same process as other 911s, Valley Green Metallic is a special paint color that is featured on the Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport. In later stages of the GT3 Bergsport’s production, several bespoke elements are hand-crafted and added to the car. A badge on the B-pillar reads “GT3 Bergsport,” and the rear lid grille features a special badge for the exclusive edition as well. Inside, the leather center console is specially embossed, and orange, black, and white stitching adorns the upholstery. The key, leather key pouch, and document wallet are even specially crafted to match the special edition. <- Gallery -> Rather than being an exclusive edition because of its production number alone, the one-of-100 Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport is designed to be a collector-worthy masterpiece because of a production process that combines excellent craftsmanship with bespoke design and several artisan details. Alongside that, the rich racing heritage that inspired it and Porsche’s connection to that history give the highly desirable special edition a beautiful backdrop. Hodinkee Teases Its Second Watch Collaboration With Porsche Design

There isn't much to see just yet, and that's because Hodinkee is keeping it under wraps. The watch publication recently teased the next chapter of its collaboration with Porsche Design, with the second release set to debut on October 1st. There are no images, specs, or real clues about what the new watch will look like, so for now, we're left with the date and the history behind the two names involved. Porsche Design has been making watches for more than 50 years, starting with the Chronograph 1 in 1972. Created by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche with Swiss watchmaker Orfina, the all-black chronograph was a drastically different take on the common chronograph at the time and established the connection between Porsche's lifestyle language and watchmaking. The brand would later work with IWC before eventually bringing its watchmaking operations in-house. Over the years, Porsche Design watches have continued to follow that same basic idea of combining functional design with the brand's performance DNA. Hodinkee brings a different kind of history to the collaboration. What started as a watch blog has grown into one of the better-known names in modern watch media, covering everything from vintage watches and independent brands to major releases from the industry's biggest manufacturers. That made its first Porsche Design collaboration in 2024 a pretty natural pairing. The Chronograph 1 – Hodinkee Edition took inspiration from the original 1972 Chronograph 1 while giving it a modern update, with production limited to 350 pieces. It was also described as the first chapter of a three-part collaboration, making it the next one in line. And that's about all we know for now. There are no specs to dissect or photographs to study ahead of the launch, but collectors won't have to wait much longer. The second chapter of the Hodinkee x Porsche Design collaboration is scheduled to debut on October 1, when we'll finally get to see what the two brands have been working on. Source: Hodinkee

Porsche Brings CarPlay & More To Old 911, Boxster, & Cayman

Enthusiasts often resist many of the high-tech cars of today, preferring the authenticity of older models. However, the convenience of features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is difficult to resist, and some owners bridge the gap with aftermarket solutions. For owners of Porsche vehicles from the recent past, though, the manufacturer has unveiled a new infotainment system that offers the current-day ease of features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while maintaining a look, feel, and quality that is congruent with the OEM car. Made for Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman models from 2009 to 2016 (987.2, 997.2, 981, 991.1), two new devices are now available from Porsche Centers that marry an up-to-date digital experience with beloved past models that are bound to become classics in the near future. A new generation of PCCM Plus, the system integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, and can be controlled not only by the seven-inch high-resolution touchscreen, but also with the steering wheel multifunction buttons. Music tracks and navigation instructions continue to exist on the instrument cluster if desired. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability is also part of the new system, and the option of playing YouTube videos on the screen while the car is parked is also available, depending on the country’s legal requirements. The virtual vehicle displayed on the screen can also be configured with different exterior colors, ensuring a truly seamless experience with a virtual vehicle whose color matches the one on the car in which it is installed. Available at Porsche Centers worldwide, the new generation of PCCM Plus allows owners of past Porsches to enjoy modern infotainment conveniences, while continuing to cherish vehicles that are steadily earning classic icon status. With features like over-the-air map updates, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, late 2000s and early 2010s Porsche owners can love and drive their cars without missing out on the benefits of the latest infotainment tech. Porsche Design Concours Is Reimagining the Car Collector Garage

Porsche is one of those brands that extends well beyond any dealership or garage, with a global community of passionate collectors and enthusiasts built around it. One part of the brand that celebrates the lifestyle that comes with Porsche ownership is Porsche Design, which recently partnered with Newgard Development Group to introduce Porsche Design Concours. It’s a collector car haven where private car studios, workspaces, hospitality, and community all come together. The first two locations are planned for West Palm Beach, Florida, and Dallas, Texas, with both currently targeted to open in 2028.The two inaugural locations will feature 44 privately owned automotive studios, split evenly between West Palm Beach and Dallas. Ranging from 2,700 to 6,000 square feet, each studio is designed to function as more than just high-end car storage. Owners can have a climate-controlled space with a mezzanine, full bathroom, and wet bar, perfect as a private office, gathering space, or somewhere to spend an afternoon with cars. Ownership will be offered by invitation, and importantly, you don't have to own a Porsche to be part of it.The Concours itself features an interior automotive promenade that runs through each property. Instead of pulling into a conventional parking aisle, owners and guests move through a gallery-like space where the cars become part of the architecture. It’s Porsche Design's approach of clean lines, functional materials, and understated details, with Gensler handling the Dallas location and Urban Robot Associates working on West Palm Beach. Then there is the Clubhouse. Membership will provide access to amenities planned around dining, wellness, socializing, and working, including private lounges, coworking areas, outdoor terraces, event spaces, padel, spa and wellness facilities, and concierge services. Twenty-four-hour security is also planned, which is an obvious but important part of protecting both the cars and the people using the spaces. West Palm Beach and Dallas are just the beginning of Porsche Design Concours' larger plans. The company says future destinations will be selected around established collector communities and positioned close to the neighborhoods and everyday routines of their members.  Porsche Design Concours is essentially trying to turn the modern collector garage into a place where the cars, the lifestyle surrounding them, and the people who share that passion can all exist under one roof. Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge: The Area South-Central Winners

Porsche's dealer network has once again shown what its service departments are capable of. The Area South-Central winners of the 2026 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge represent three distinct approaches to keeping classic Porsches on the road, each carried out with the depth of expertise and factory support that define the program. About the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge Through the Challenge, Porsche Cars North America invites Porsche Centers across the U.S. to restore, preserve, or individualize heritage models using Porsche Classic Genuine Parts and their own craftsmanship. Each participating dealer selects a project car, documents the work throughout the year, and presents the finished vehicle at a regional judging event. That parts support is substantial. The Porsche Classic catalogue includes approximately 85,000 genuine parts, and the U.S. is home to the highest number of classic Porsche vehicles in operation anywhere in the world. Entries compete in three categories. Preservation maintains originality while improving functionality, Restoration returns vehicles to near-factory specification, and Individualization allows for bespoke builds influenced by Porsche's Sonderwunsch program. Now in its sixth year, the Challenge continues to grow. The 2025 edition set a record with 73 entries, and the national champions were crowned in Durham, North Carolina alongside Luftgekühlt 11. For 2026, the South-Central round took place at Artomobilia in Carmel, Indiana on August 28 and 29, with the National Championship to follow in October. Porsche Orlando's 1997 911 Carrera 2 Individualization (national finalist) and People's Choice winnerFollow along: https://www.instagram.com/porsche_orlando/ GALLERY-EMBED This build was inspired by Carey, a longtime Porsche Orlando client who, together with her husband Byron, has purchased numerous Paint to Sample and Sonderwunsch cars from the dealership. Shortly after taking delivery of a Pastel Yellow 993 Carrera 2, she challenged the team to create a car that reflected her own personality while remaining unmistakably Porsche. The car was taken down to a bare shell, fitted with genuine 993 RS bodywork and a factory-style steel sunroof delete, and refinished in its original Pastel Yellow on every surface. Under the rear deck, the original 3.6-liter flat-six became a high-compression 4.0-liter with individual throttle bodies and a GT3 plenum, paired with a short-ratio RSR-style gearbox and authentic 993 RS suspension. The interior is the centerpiece, a Sonderwunsch-inspired cabin with full leather retrimming, color-matched painted trim, and a bespoke ombré leather weave inspired by the GT3 S/C Street Style. The team also 3D scanned a factory 993 rear seat delete and re-engineered it in lightweight materials with top-loading storage that works with the RS bucket seats. Carey was involved at every stage, and her choices, including the color-matched new-old-stock Speedline wheels, became defining features of a car that used approximately 782 genuine Porsche components and earned both the Individualization win and the People's Choice award. Porsche Cary's 2001 Boxster Preservation (national finalist)Follow along: https://www.instagram.com/porsche.cary/ GALLERY-EMBED Porsche Cary's 986 Boxster was prepared with a focus on preservation and thoughtful modernization. Rather than replacing original components, the team prioritized sustainability and authenticity by meticulously cleaning and touching up existing interior pieces. The exterior received a comprehensive paint correction to restore its factory-level luster, and a full dry ice blasting treatment restored the undercarriage while retaining most of the original parts. The car's key systems were fully refreshed with a new convertible top and headliner, new windshield, struts, control arms, clutch and flywheel, along with refurbished wheels and brakes and OEM N-spec tires. To bridge classic and contemporary, the team installed the Porsche Classic PCCM+ system, adding smartphone integration and improved navigation while preserving the authentic interior of the 986. The finished car is a beautiful example of the model that retains the character of an early Boxster. Harper Porsche's 1978 911 Turbo Restoration (national finalist)Follow along: https://www.instagram.com/harperporsche/ GALLERY-EMBED Harper Porsche's 1978 911 Turbo is a rare early Sonderwunsch commission, ordered new in Paint to Sample Buick Medium Green Poly metallic with white leather seats, black and white pinstripe velour inserts, and green shag carpet. Guided by the car's Porsche Product Specifications certificate, the team stripped the car to a bare shell and had it resprayed inside and out in the correct color by Harper's Porsche-certified collision center, then restored the interior to its original specification. The engine was rebuilt from the bare crankcase up, the original turbocharger was rebuilt, and the Type 930 four-speed transaxle was rebuilt in-house. The chassis received period-correct green Bilstein suspension, a fully renewed brake system, and the original Fuchs wheels refinished and fitted with N-rated Pirelli P7 tires. Harper's Porsche Classic service advisor and historian researched production records and period sources to ensure every detail was correct for 1978, and the team even commissioned custom red woven air conditioning hoses to match the originals. Harper Porsche brings a strong Challenge history to the finals, having won the national People's Choice award in 2025 with its 1992 964 RS. Each of these three cars reflects the purpose of its category and the skill of the Porsche Center behind it. Porsche Orlando, Porsche Cary and Harper Porsche now advance to the National Championship in October, where they will meet the winners from Areas West and East.

This Porsche Cayenne Drove Nearly 26,000 Miles From Argentina to Alaska

Other than the 911 itself, few Porsche models have had as big an impact on the brand as the Cayenne. When it first debuted back in 2002, Porsche was stepping into the SUV world for the first time, and the Cayenne helped prove that a Porsche could be just as interesting away from a racetrack or winding road. More than 20 years later, two owners decided to see just how far one could go, taking a second-generation Cayenne Diesel from the southern tip of Argentina all the way to Alaska.Rainer Behrendt and Jan Bongers spent 100 days driving the Pan-American Highway, covering nearly 26,000 miles across 15 countries. Their Cayenne was upgraded with off-road tires, auxiliary lights, and a 26.4-gallon fuel tank, but the trip still threw plenty at it. In the Andes, the SUV climbed to nearly 16,400-feet, where the thin air caused problems for its diesel particulate filter and eventually put the Cayenne into limp mode. The pair spent around two weeks driving with the engine limited to 2,000 rpm before Porsche technicians in Lima got it sorted. That wasn't the only issue. Finding diesel in Bolivia proved difficult, and later in Ecuador, the pair had to track down AdBlue before the Cayenne's system would prevent the engine from starting. In between the mechanical headaches, they crossed the Salar de Uyuni, visited Machu Picchu, made their way through Central America, and eventually reached Mexico. The Cayenne also became a way for the two travelers to connect with Porsche Club members in several countries, with local owners helping them along the way.Once they reached the U.S., the trip became a little more familiar, but there were still plenty of miles to cover. They continued through California and into Canada before heading north toward the Arctic Circle. From there, the landscape changed again as the Cayenne made its way through Alaska and onto the Dalton Highway toward Deadhorse. After 100 days and nearly 26,000 miles, the Cayenne finally reached Deadhorse. The trip wasn't exactly trouble-free, but that is probably what makes the story worth telling. The SUV had to deal with high-altitude roads, rough terrain, long stretches between fuel stops, and a few mechanical problems, yet it still made the entire run from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska.
