Riding the coat tails of the 992.2 generation 911 Turbo S debut, Porsche Design follows up with a commemorative chronograph. The all-new 992.2 Porsche 911 Turbo S has officially landed, and along with it comes a special companion for enthusiasts, the custom-built Chronograph 911 Turbo S from Porsche Design. Designed to reflect the latest Turbo S in every detail, the watch gives drivers a way to carry the spirit of their car on the wrist. It’s a perfect blend of automotive DNA and Swiss watchmaking, with a black dial accented in Turbonite, a color developed exclusively for the new 992.2 Turbo S in collaboration with Pantone. The dial is paired with a customizable color ring that can match any exterior paint, including the legendary “Paint to Sample” shades, letting owners make a timepiece that’s truly theirs. Porsche has just pulled the wraps off its most powerful production 911 ever, the long-awaited 992.2 Turbo S. Unveiled ahead of the 2025 IAA Mobility in Munich. This is the first Turbo S to adopt Porsche’s T-Hybrid system, and the results are impressive: 701 horsepower, 590 pound-feet of torque, and a Nürburgring lap time that cuts a full 14 seconds from the outgoing 992.1 Turbo S, and for some context, it already made 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.  Available as both a coupe and a cabriolet, at first glance, in typical Porsche fashion, the styling tweaks appear to be quite minimal. The wide body and signature side intakes remain, but Porsche has made sharp refinements. The fascia now features larger, more angular intakes, and the separate running light cluster is gone, with all functions integrated into the headlights. Vertical airflow shutters, borrowed from the GTS, reappear to close in wet mode, shielding the brakes from spray. Out back, the car wears squared-off titanium tailpipes, a boxier bumper, and large extractor vents that visually widen the stance. Some of those vents are decorative, but a huge functional outlet under the bumper channels hot air from the intercoolers and engine bay. Aerodynamics have also been reworked as a system: front diffusers, vertical shutters, extendable front lip spoiler, and the active extendable rear wing now cut drag by 10 percent when efficiency matters most. Porsche has also debuted a new “Turbonite” finish, reserved exclusively for Turbo models, which is applied to the crest, lettering, and even wheel designs. Inside, the same accent color shows up on the dash, stitching, and even the Sport Chrono stopwatch, while buyers can spec everything from lightweight GT3 bucket seats to a carbon roof.  But the real news is what’s under the skin of this latest Turbo S. Porsche built upon the 9A3B6 3.6-liter flat six with T-Hybrid tech first seen in the 992.2 Carrera GTS, but the Turbo S gets its own twist: two electric exhaust gas turbochargers (eTurbos) instead of just one. That change should not only deliver more power but also sharper throttle response. There are no belts; the heads are new. The water pump, crankcase, and valvetrain were all redesigned for lighter weight and lower friction. An additional integrated motor in the eight-speed PDK gearbox should provide the instant hit of torque, available over a wide powerband (2,000-6,000 rpm), while a compact 1.9-kWh battery sits over the front axle. Sound hasn’t been overlooked either. The titanium exhaust drops 15 pounds, but engineers have also tuned the engine with asymmetrical timing to create a throatier, more distinctive boxer note. The overall setup adds just 187 pounds compared to the outgoing 992.1 Turbo S. 0 to 62 mph takes 2.5 seconds, a two-tenths improvement, and 124 mph comes up in 8.4 seconds, half a second quicker than before. Top speed is 200 mph, and Nürburgring testing confirmed a 7:03.92 lap “You don’t feel the weight gain. The car is much more agile, has more grip, and is significantly faster.” - Porsche Development driver Jörg Bergmeister. To handle that extra speed, Porsche made serious hardware upgrades. The rear tires now measure up to 325/30ZR21, 10 millimeters wider than before, paired with 255/35ZR20 up front. Ceramic composite brakes have now grown to 420 mm up front and 410 mm at the rear, the largest PCCB system ever fitted to a two-door Porsche.  Engineers also reworked the pads and pedal feel to hold up under repeated abuse. Add in electro-hydraulic Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (ehPDCC) running off the new 400-volt system, and you should get flatter cornering and a car that feels more predictable when you push it. The new lift system, tied into the 400-volt setup, raises the nose faster than before, a real benefit in urban environments. Aerodynamics have also been fine-tuned. Active front diffusers, shutters, and the adjustable rear wing now work together as an integrated system. In wet driving conditions, the front diffusers are even closer to shielding the brake discs from spray, improving braking performance.  Inside, the design team linked the Turbo S back to its roots. The Sport Seats Plus feature embossing inspired by the first 911 Turbo, the 930, a.k.a the widow maker, and Turbonite details now cover everything from stitching to the seatbelts. If you want more, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur offers lightweight wiper arms and a paint-to-sample palette with over 100 colors. Porsche even extends the exclusivity to your wrist as the Porsche Design Chronograph 911 Turbo S mirrors the car with Turbonite accents, wheel-inspired rotors, and leather straps made from Porsche interior materials.  Where does that leave the Turbo S in Porsche’s lineup? Well, above the GTS Hybrid by a comfortable margin, and perhaps with enough headroom to keep rumors alive about an even wilder next-gen GT2 RS. Pricing hasn’t been finalized, but with the outgoing Turbo S starting just under $200,000 and every 992.2 model so far climbing significantly and the inherent impact of tariffs, expect the new Turbo S to sit somewhere in the $300,000 mark, before options. The 911 Turbo S is the most complete and versatile form of driving a Porsche 911. Whether in daily use, on long autobahn journeys, or on the racetrack, we have made the new 911 Turbo S even more comfortable, more individual, and significantly faster than its predecessor  - Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model line.  The Turbo S is the latest model to get the 992.2 update, after the base Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera T, Carrera GTS, GT3, and GT3 Touring. This hybrid flagship also sits within a broader strategy. Porsche will be phasing out production of the gas-powered 718, preparing the all-electric Cayenne, and hinting that future GT2 RS models could see electrification. Against that backdrop, the Turbo S is both a bridge and a benchmark. Between hybrid torque, a sub-7:05 Nürburgring lap, sharper chassis tech, and an interior that packs heritage touches with luxury, this is a significant dot 2 update for the 911 Turbo S. It now pushes the 911 into a hybrid future without backing away from what has always made it special: speed, all-wheel drive grip, and all-weather, year-round, everyday usability. Porsche to Highlight Wireless Charging on Upcoming Cayenn...

Charging infrastructure remains one of the biggest hurdles in mass EV adoption worldwide. Tesla’s decision to open its Supercharger network to other automakers and the standardization of NACS is a step in the right direction, but compatibility issues persist. Different models place charging ports in different locations, some chargers are unreliable, and downtime at public stations is still common. Inductive wireless charging, similar to what we already use with our smartphones, could be a promising solution. While it won’t solve every issue overnight, it points to a future where things could be as simple as pulling up onto a charger and walking away, making the charging experience far more seamless.  Here’s how the tech works. The floor plate contains a copper transmitter coil powered by alternating current, creating a magnetic field. The vehicle’s underbody receiver coil picks up that field, generating alternating current on the vehicle side. A rectifier then converts it into direct current for the high-voltage battery.  Porsche will be one of the latest automakers to adopt this tech on its upcoming Cayenne Electric, which recently set a record at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in England and showcased the prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, highlighting that performance remains central to the brand’s identity. Besides plugging into a wallbox, if you tick the right boxes during configuring the Cayenne electric, you will be able to park over a floor plate that transfers up to 11 kW, enough to handle overnight charging. The plate itself measures 117 by 78 centimeters (46 by 31 inches), weighs 50 kilograms (110 pounds).  Porsche also integrates ultra-wideband positioning to help align the car, with visual cues in the infotainment system and a dedicated Surround View camera mode to make positioning easy. The Cayenne electric will then lower itself about 10 centimeters (4.0 inches) to optimize the connection, while a receiver unit under the SUV converts the energy into usable current for the battery. Efficiency sits at around 90 percent, not far off from wired AC charging.  Assuming a 100 kWh battery pack, charging from 20 to 80 percent at 11 kW should take about 5.5 to 6 hours, ideal for overnight top-ups. For road trips, the Cayenne supports up to 400 kW DC fast charging, which can add hundreds of miles of range in less than 20 minutes, surpassing the Taycan’s 320 kW peak, making it one of the fastest-charging EVs to hit the market. Porsche has built in multiple fail-safes. If a pet, person, or stray object moves under the car, the system cuts off immediately. Even small metal objects, like coins, can stop charging to prevent overheating. TÜV Süd testing confirmed the system’s robustness, and the pad carries CE and UL certifications. It’s weatherproof, designed to operate in rain and snow, and can even survive being driven over. Electromagnetic radiation is restricted to the car’s underbody during charging. In terms of how much all this hardware will cost, the inductive pad itself will set you back about €5,000 ($5,400), while the Cayenne requires a €2,000 ($2,160) receiver option or a €200 ($215) pre-install kit. With installation, expect the full setup to exceed €7,500 ($8,100). A conventional wallbox delivers the same AC power for far less, making this a luxury convenience feature for now. Now, inductive charging for cars has been in the works for more than a decade. Volkswagen experimented with the idea during the e-Golf era, and pilot projects have cropped up across Europe and Asia. In China, where EV adoption is more mature, companies like FAW and Dongfeng have tested inductive systems, while Nio went a step further and gained traction with battery-swapping stations. More recently, Tesla revealed plans to equip its upcoming Cybercab robotaxi fleet with inductive charging, signaling wider industry momentum. Coming back to Porsche, the German automaker will present the system at the upcoming IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich, with a prototype with electroluminescent paint that glows in five colors when energized. It’s a showpiece, not production-ready, but it fits Porsche’s tradition of using IAA to debut groundbreaking tech. The 901, 911 Targa, the 911 RSR Turbo concept, the 930 Turbo Cabriolet 4x4, 959, the water-cooled 996, the 918 Spyder, and Mission E-Concept all made their first public appearances at the German show. Besides the Cayenne electric, we also expect the 992.2 Turbo to break cover. The Cayenne Electric will hit the market in late 2025, with wireless charging rolling out in Europe first in 2026, and other markets will follow. The system works, but would you pay Porsche money to skip plugging in, or wait until inductive charging reaches mass-market prices? The tech may be expensive now, yes, but with economies of scale, the cost could fall, and charging hassles could eventually become a thing of the past. Porsche celebrates its classics with another Restoration Challenge. Each year, Porsche encourages dealers across North America to give one of the many classic Porsche cars on the market some TLC as part of the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge, where the best builds are judged and awarded, whether those be in the Preservation, Restoration, or Individualization categories. This year, the judging for the 2025 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge, with winners from across the country being carefully evaluated by experts, took place at the Werks Reunion event at this year’s Monterey Car Week, selecting the first round of finalists. With a new record of 73 vehicles entering the challenge this year, its growth indicates increased passion, appreciation, and excitement around Porsche’s classics and youngtimers, with a rich and growing legacy of vehicles to showcase in the competition each year. For the Area West: the competition winners include a 1985 928 S in the Restoration category from Porsche San Francisco, a 1988 944 Turbo S from Gaudin Las Vegas in the Preservation category, a 1973 911 RSR Tribute from Porsche Bend in the Individualization category, and a 1972 914 Off-Road taking the People’s Choice award. After the Area West judging took place during Monterey Car Week, the competition will continue with Area East judging set to take place soon in New York City. Petrolicious celebrates the inventions, the personalities, and the aesthetics that ignite a collective lust for great automotive machines, and it seeks to inform, entertain, and inspire its community of aficionados and pique the interest of those who have been missing out. Today, Petrolicious takes up the story... Before a car becomes a car, it is just idea. Simple as. Sometimes it takes shape in metal, other times it stays trapped in drawings and test pieces. Porsche’s earliest work was like this. Experiments hammered out in a sawmill. Prototypes that looked half-finished but carried the weight of possibility. They were not meant to be perfect. They were meant to point forward, to suggest what could exist if someone was willing to see it through. That current has never really gone away. Underneath the veneer of an overwrought 911 product line, the desire to innovate and prototype still runs strong.  Drew Hafner found himself drawn to it. He grew up with tools in his hands, sketchbooks on the table, and the influence of parents who lived in both the mechanical and creative worlds. His father was a body man who always had projects in the garage. His mother encouraged the same curiosity in art, filling the house with sketches and sculpture. Between the two, Drew learned how things go together and what it feels like to make something from nothing.  “Some of my earliest memories as a kid were being out in the garage with my dad and learning how to fix anything mechanical really, whether it be cars, motorcycles, BMX bikes, or even my skateboard,” he says. “I’d spend days making sketches and building sculptures out of any materials I could get my hands on.” Cars became the natural outlet. Porsche in particular. The moment it clicked came when he was in eighth grade, riding shotgun with his dad in a 911 that had just been finished in the shop. “We hopped in and jammed at about 120 mph down some country roads. At the intersection, we whipped a left turn and did some donuts in the car and then drove back home,” he remembers. “From that point I just instantly fell in love with the Porsche brand and knew what these cars were capable of.” Working on 356s every day only deepened the obsession. He kept turning over the same thought: what if he could take the honesty of a 356 and wrap it in the form of an early 911 or 912. Not to build a replica. Not to chase lap times. To create a prototype special that felt like it could have rolled out of Stuttgart in the late 1960s. “I’ve always had the crazy idea of building a prototype Porsche special of some sort,” he says. “My main goal was to make all of the custom modifications that I did almost undetectable… and really just chase that prototype early 912 look.” The canvas arrived in the shape of a tired 912. The car had been left outside for years, rust eating away at every panel. Someone had already cut it apart, the body reduced to a shell with no future. That made it easier. “I didn’t feel guilty about sacrificing this car to a one-of-a-kind prototype special,” he says. With the title in his name, the real work began. The chassis was rebuilt from the ground up. Heater tubes, suspension points, floors, everything that gave the structure its integrity was cut out and made right. The inspiration from the 356 shows in the details. A decklid scaled up from the proportions of the earlier car. Rain gutters shaved away. Rails and bumper trim deleted. Door edges and corners radiused until they looked natural. A custom roll bar tucked inside. “Really just went over the whole car and chased simplicity throughout the whole build,” Drew says. The point was not to make a car that shouted at you, but one that rewarded a longer look. The heart of the car is as unique as the bodywork. It is a 2.1-liter four that began as a 911 six. In the 1980s, Chuck Beck cut the center two cylinders out of a flat six, welded the case back together, and rebuilt it with a custom cam and crank. The result was a one-off prototype motor, bored to 2100cc, built to power his own 550 Spyder replica. Beck’s name carries weight. His replicas of the 550 are legendary, but his willingness to experiment is just as important. This engine is proof. It is not a part you can buy or a variation Porsche ever offered. It is an outlaw experiment, a private vision made real in metal. When the motor resurfaced years later in the hands of Drew’s father-in-law, it was waiting for the right home. The 912 project provided it. “It being such a special and unique prototype engine and the car that I was building, it was really the perfect match for the two,” Drew says. The result is not the fastest or most modern 911 derivative, but that was never the point. “There’s no modern billet parts on the car. There’s no electronic components that control any of that stuff on the vehicle,” he says. “It may not be the most modern driving experience, but there’s something so raw that teleports you back in time. If I was living back in the late 60s and had an early Porsche and took it home and did all my customizations and modifications to it, I would do exactly this.” Driving it is the reward. A steering wheel, pedals, and nothing between you and the road. “Being able to get inside the car and go for a drive and experience the work that you’ve created, all of the mechanical components working just as you intended them to,” Drew says. “There’s something really special about that to me.” Even now he sees the project as unfinished. There are upgrades in the back of his mind, changes he might make with time. Air conditioning, better handling, different gauges. Evolution rather than replacement. “This car to me will forever be an ongoing project,” he says. “I love the point that it’s at, and it’s been so special to me being able to bring that to life. But who knows if it’s always going to stay the same.” What matters is that it exists. A forgotten shell, a prototype engine, and years of work turned into a car that feels both familiar and new. Drew calls it powerful. The feeling comes from the act itself. Taking raw material and an idea and making it real.  “I think there’s something extremely rewarding about taking raw materials or taking a car that has been forgotten about, and using your hands and your ideas and bringing that to life,” he says. “Getting inside of a vehicle that you’ve dreamt up for years and you’ve been working on for years, there’s something so powerful about that.” Photos: Tiziano Niero

The Macan has been Porsche’s global best-seller for nearly a decade, having sold over a million examples, so the move to an all-electric version in early 2024 was a big deal as the German brand’s second EV after the Taycan. The Macan Electric is built on Porsche’s new PPE platform, sharing hardware with the Audi Q6 e-tron, and slots alongside the still-available gas Macan, which Porsche plans to sell through 2026. With this latest update, Porsche is focusing on everyday usability. The biggest news is the expanded Digital Key. Using your iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android device, you can unlock, start the vehicle. You can share access to your Macan with up to seven people. Keys can be sent through Mail, Messages, or WhatsApp, and the system still works even if your phone needs a charge, thanks to NFC, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Ultra-Wideband support. You can also use the My Porsche App to pop the trunk or frunk remotely, though these functions require the Porsche Connect package. Parking has also taken a step forward. The optional 3D Surround View system with Active Parking Support stitches together feeds from four high-resolution cameras to give you a 360-degree look at your surroundings, plus a cross-traffic view for urban driving. The system can automatically steer and manage forward and backward movement into parallel or perpendicular spaces. Added functions like Trained Parking, which memorizes routine maneuvers such as pulling into your garage, and Reversing Assist, which retraces a forward path up to 160 feet, make tackling tight garages or winding driveways far less stressful. A Transparent Hood digitally overlays what’s under the bumper so obstacles that normally disappear from sight show up clearly on the central display. Charging downtime also gets more useful as Porsche’s App Center doesn’t just support AirConsole gaming with titles from Gameloft and Obscure Interactive, but it also integrates streaming, podcasts, and video apps, with a passenger display that allows use without distracting the driver. Add a Bluetooth headset, and you get a private listening experience while charging (up to 270 kW) or on the move. Voice Pilot, Porsche’s AI-powered assistant, now handles layered commands and integrates the full on-board manual.  Practicality-wise, towing capacity for all-wheel-drive Macan EV variants jumps from 4,400 pounds to 5,500 pounds, putting it right in line with most midsize gas-powered SUVs. Porsche has also added small but notable customization touches like new illuminated sill guard options and optimized the Charging Planner, which now lets you prioritize stations or providers on long trips. There’s no word on updated pricing yet, but the current Macan EV lineup spans four trims: Base ($78,000), 4 ($81,600), 4S ($88,000), and Turbo Electric ($109,500). Power ranges from about 355 horsepower in the base version to 630 horsepower in the Turbo, good for a 3.1-second 0–60 time.  Compare that with the gas Macan, and the base model starts at $64,600 but tops out at 434 horsepower in GTS form. So while the Macan Electric is pricier, it also delivers instant torque that you can only get with an EV and significantly more tech than lighter gas-powered Macans. British engineering outfit RML Group has taken the wraps off its limited-run GT Hypercar at the ongoing Salon Privé in the U.K. This build transforms a 992.1 Porsche 911 Turbo S into a Le Mans-inspired machine with performance to match.  For those unaware, Ray Mallock has four decades of championship-winning touring cars and GT programs to his name. From running factory-backed Nissan and Aston Martin race teams to quietly engineering projects for OEMs, Mallock has built RML Group into one of Britain’s most respected and prestigious motorsport firms.  Now, under his family’s leadership, the company has stepped into the spotlight with its most audacious project yet: the GT Hypercar (GTH). Internally known as Project 39, the car marks the company’s 39th bespoke build since the firm's founding in 1984. Only 39 examples will ever be produced. So what makes the P39 different from the donor Turbo S? Quite a lot. The car has a distinctive carbon-fiber body, features a stretched wheelbase and wider tracks, and incorporates active aerodynamics, including a splitter and adjustable rear wing with some pretty substantial end plates. Buyers opting for the Performance and Track Packs will have 920 horsepower at their disposal, selectable ride height, a full roll cage, and a rear seat delete. Torque tops out at 1,000 Nm (about 738 pound-feet) of torque. RML hasn’t confirmed a real-world Nürburgring lap time yet, but simulations suggest somewhere in the low 6:30s, which would place it near the Mercedes-AMG One (6:29.09). This particular example, revealed at Blenheim Palace, is the first of 1-of-10 40th Anniversary Special Editions, finished in Storm Purple with a carbon-tinted roof and hood, gold wheels, and hand-painted accents. Inside, bespoke Crayon stitching and matching seatbelts contrast with a body-colored roll cage. Also displayed at Salon Privé, the NIO EP9 prototype EV, which set Nürburgring records in 2017, highlights RML’s parallel expertise in combustion and electric projects. In the U.K., pricing starts at £495,000 (~$666,600) before VAT, but that figure excludes the donor 911 Turbo S. Factor that in, and real-world costs should get the price closer to £700,000 (~$942,650), placing the P39 in rarefied territory. Sources suggest, all 39 builds have already been spoken for.  Also, back in June, RML named Graham Rahal Performance as its official U.S. dealer, setting it apart from most boutique restomod builders, who rarely lock down American distribution so early on. It shows how seriously how RML also views the collector car market Stateside. Finally, while Porsche itself has no halo 918 successor on the horizon, cars like the RML P39 point to a growing movement of Porsche-based hypercar-restomods. Porsche’s unbelievable one-off made waves at Monterey Car Week. The Porsche 963 has been steadily expanding Porsche’s already venerated racing legacy, standing against the cohort of Le Mans racing hypercars at the top class of endurance racing, and while the hypercar has earned a reputation for racing success, it’s the Porsche 963 RSP, an incredibly special one-off street-legal version of the hypercar that was created for Roger Penske, that made an anticipated entrance at this year’s Monterey Car Week. Coming back to the US after its appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in Austria, and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the new Porsche 963 RSP was driven by its namesake and owner, Roger Penske, for the first time at Monterey Car Week. At the event, it took to both the road and the track, taking on the legendary WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with legendary drivers like Bruce Canepa and Patrick Long behind the wheel. The 963 RSP features extensive changes from the Porsche 963, with a design inspired by the Porsche 917 chassis number 30 including a Martini Silver exterior, a bespoke leather and Alcantara interior, and a tuned suspension, ride height, ECU made for driving on public roads and using fuel from the pump, making it a stunning race car that’s also made to thoroughly enjoy on the road. Porsche had an interesting mix of cars for the 2025 Monterey Car Week. The sports car maker has announced a new $7,680 design wrap for the 2025 992.2 Porsche 911 GT3 that pays a 50th Anniversary tribute to ANDIAL, the California-based Porsche tuner that dominated the North American racing scene from the late 1970s onward. The wrap made its public debut at the Porsche Club of America Werks Reunion in Monterey. If you’ve never heard of ANDIAL, here’s the short version: Arnold Wagner, Dieter Inzenhofer, and Alwin Springer formed the company in 1975, and their engines powered everything from IMSA 911s to customer 935s. The name itself is an anagram of the founders’ names, and for decades, ANDIAL cars won at Daytona, Sebring, and countless club races. They also built performance kits for street cars long before Porsche Exclusive became a household name. ‟The GT3 embodies the connection between Porsche motorsport technology and road cars in much the same way ANDIAL applied motorsport expertise to cars on public roads and in racing. The story of ANDIAL is one that continues to be an inspiration for many of us at Porsche and throughout our enthusiasts across the world, so it only makes sense to release this livery during their anniversary year.” - Volker Holzmeyer, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Motorsport North America. The new wrap mimics the ANDIAL 935-L livery and comes straight from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen, Germany. You can spec it, directly from the configurator, or retrofit it later if you already own a GT3. But beyond the wrap itself, Porsche will also do custom decals, optional racing numbers, and door flag graphics with your name. Even the key, pouch, floor mats, door-sill guards, and manual case carry the ANDIAL logo. Porsche says that this offering also ties into its recent line of ANDIAL apparel and memorabilia. But here’s a practical question: would you actually spend nearly eight grand on what amounts to a factory-applied sticker set? For collectors, the answer is probably a ‘yes’, given how Porsche has proven time and again that cosmetic exclusives, think Sport Classic stripes or 911 Dakar graphics, add real value on the secondary market, and let's not even get started on retro-racing colors and heritage racing liveries. ‟That was a fantastic experience – an unforgettable moment to finally get behind the wheel. Our partnership with Porsche has led to an incredible history together built over six decades. This is a special moment among many in that partnership. It’s been a privilege to be a part of the team and program that led to its creation.” Roger Penske, Chairman of the Penske Corporation. But this wasn’t the only Porsche headline in Monterey. Sitting alongside the ANDIAL GT3 was Roger Penske’s one-off 963 RSP, making its first public appearance on U.S. soil. It was originally unveiled back in June, at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it appeared alongside Count Rossi’s Porsche 917. It then drew crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month and more recently, had a shakedown with Roger Penske behind the wheel at Porsche’s Atlanta Experience Center before extended laps at Laguna Seca with Bruce Canepa and Patrick Long, who praised its steering feel, visibility, and surprisingly compliant ride. The 963 RSP also took on some Canyon roads in California. Built under the Porsche Sonderwunsch or Special Wishes program, the 963 RSP transforms Porsche’s current endurance LMdh prototype into a road-capable tribute to the 917. It also wears the iconic Martini Silver paint, a bespoke leather interior by Hermes, inspired by chassis 917-030, and other road-legal tweaks like pump-gas tuning, wet-weather tires, and a horn. Porsche Cars North America CEO Timo Resch said it was a fitting conclusion before the car joins Penske’s private collection. Gunther Werks, a leader in precision-engineered high-performance Porsche remastering, revealed its first Slantnose-inspired creation at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, on Friday, August 15. Project F-26 represents the culmination of everything the California-based company has learned since its first build, delivering a staggering 1,000 horsepower from a reimagined Turbo platform. “The Slantnose is a bold icon from Porsche’s past,” said Peter Nam, founder of Gunther Werks. “The timing felt right to reimagine it with modern craftsmanship and engineering. It's our way of bridging nostalgia with next-gen performance for the modern driver.” Project F-26 derives its name from the aerodynamic silhouette of a fighter jet and its limited production run of 26 units, emphasizing both performance and exclusivity. Drawing visual inspiration from the iconic Porsche 935 Slantnose racing car and the rare road-going Slantnose, the F-26 combines timeless design cues with Gunther Werks’ signature carbon-fiber processes. Its dramatic front end replaces the original pop-up headlights with fixed units, reducing drag and enhancing airflow, while a high-downforce rear wing, squared-off fenders, and aggressive side intakes complete the race-ready aesthetic. Coated in bespoke metallic paint, the F-26 tips the scales at 2,700 pounds. Power comes from a Gunther Werks-engineered air-cooled twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six, co-developed with Rothsport Racing. Producing 1,000 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque, the engine pairs with a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Cooling is handled by a race-derived flat fan, delivering more than twice the airflow of a standard vertical fan and evenly cooling all six cylinders.  Additional enhancements include a carbon-fiber airbox, redesigned intercooler plenum, integrated blowoff valves, and a 935-style exhaust with external wastegates. The F-26 runs on high-octane ethanol and adapts to premium gasoline via custom fuel mapping. Chassis and handling are equally advanced, featuring a 30-millimeter longer rear wheelbase, double-wishbone front suspension, adaptive JRZ dampers, motorsport-grade ABS, advanced traction control, and staggered Turbo Twist magnesium monoblock wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Force tires. Inside, the F-26 blends function with artistry: exposed carbon fiber, custom leather, Alcantara headliner accents, a fighter-jet-inspired steering wheel, and a wooden shift knob honoring Porsche’s racing heritage. The contemporary dashboard integrates a Porsche Classic radio with Apple CarPlay for a modern touch. Production is strictly limited to 26 units, each tailored for enthusiasts seeking an analog yet cutting-edge performance experience.
