RUF Unveils The New EHRA At The Quail

By Tyler Rampersaud –  August 14, 2026

New RUF EHRA Unveiled

RUF is known for its legendary sports car lineup, and especially for the CTR lineage, which started with the CTR “Yellowbird” of the late ‘80s. In its time, the CTR “Yellowbird” was the fastest production car in the world, and that record was broken with driver Phil Hill behind the wheel, at the Ehra-Lessien proving ground in Germany. RUF Automobile celebrated the rich legacy of the original CTR with the CTR Anniversary, but another ode to the legendary CTR has just been unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. It’s called the EHRA, and it’s named after the venue where the Yellowbird helped shape automotive history. Based on RUF’s proprietary carbon fiber monocoque, the EHRA combines classic charm, retro-inspired design, and a purist ethos with cutting-edge technology and engineering to deliver both a spirited driving experience and groundbreaking performance. With a widebody design and a fastback rear deck, the new RUF EHRA stands out alongside the other RUF cars that are present at The Quail this year, including the RUF RODEO, the CTR Anniversary, the SCR, and CTR3 EVO. The new RUF EHRA is powered by a twin-turbo 3.6-liter boxer six-cylinder engine, with 650 horsepower and 664 lb/ft of torque on tap. That power goes to all four wheels, but the all-wheel drive system is fully variable and can switch to rear-wheel drive, and the transmission of the RUF EHRA is a seven-speed manual. For its unveiling, the lightweight carbon fiber body of the EHRA is finished in Liquid Silver, and its interior features titanium pedals, natural brown leather upholstery in a “Pasha” pattern, and matte carbon fiber trim. <- Gallery -> Iconic RUF elements include the green instruments, the “lollipop” bucket seats, and more. The car uniquely features a carbon fiber spoiler on the rear deck, which is variable and automatically deploys at highway speeds and can be manually operated by the driver. About the new EHRA’s unveiling at The Quail, Alois Ruf, owner of RUF Automobile, commented, “We are so honored to be back once again at The Quail. The EHRA is a very special car for us, and we’re incredibly excited to finally share it with the world. Every year, The Quail brings us closer to our friends, fans and customers, and this year we are delivering a remarkable lineup of new cars to their new owners. Each RUF we are showcasing is unique in its own way, with pure driving pleasure front and center as always.” At Monterey Car Week this year, the unveiling of the new RUF EHRA is complemented by the appearances of the latest customer deliveries of the RUF RODEO, CTR Anniversary, SCR, and CTR3 EVO. Through a new partnership with renewable fuel manufacturer HIF Global, the entire fleet of new RUF vehicles at Car Week will be powered by the company’s e-Fuels. Combining the best of its old and new automotive excellence, the new RUF EHRA is an ode to an incredible feat that spurred decades more of legacy. View All RUF For Sale Image Source: RUF Automobile

RUF Reveals 1,000-HP Boxer-Eight Engine To “Define The Future”

By Charles Bradley –  July 09, 2026

RUF Reveals 1,000-HP Boxer-Eight Engine To “Define The Future”

RUF Automobile chose one of the world’s most prestigious automotive stages, the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, to reveal a machine that will likely define its future: a 1,000-horsepower boxer-eight prototype engine developed entirely in-house. Known internally as the “Erprober,” or “Tester,” the new 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder boxer engine produces more than 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. It marks the first eight-cylinder boxer in the company’s history, and serves as a dedicated development platform for technologies destined for a future RUF model. Rather than unveiling the engine in a static display, RUF embedded it inside a lengthened RUF CTR3 and sent it up the Goodwood hill during the event’s Supercar Run, with Tanner Foust behind the wheel. For decades, RUF Automobile has occupied a singular place in the luxury automotive world, earning a reputation for engineering some of the industry's most exclusive and uncompromising high-performance machines. Rather than chasing volume, the German manufacturer has built its legacy on meticulous in-house development, precision craftsmanship, and an unwavering focus on driving excellence. Each new project reflects the company's philosophy that innovation is earned through engineering and relentless testing. In true RUF fashion, the engineering story is hidden beneath a familiar silhouette. At first glance, the prototype appears to be a standard CTR3. Closer inspection reveals a body stretched by 100 millimeters to accommodate the new boxer-eight, which is paired with a RUF six-speed manual transmission. The approach reflects the company’s long-standing philosophy of developing extreme-performance vehicles away from the spotlight. “There are moments in a company’s history that define the future,” said Alois Ruf. “For RUF, the Boxer 8 is one of those moments. A boxer-eight has never been part of our story, or anyone else’s in this form, so we decided to write a new chapter in automotive history. We look forward to letting the engine speak for itself at Goodwood.” The B8 is not yet a production model but serves as a dedicated testbed for technologies that will shape a future RUF model. According to the company, every new RUF begins life long before the world sees it, undergoing thousands of kilometers of rigorous testing to ensure its extreme performance is matched by durability and drivability. The development of the B8 has been supported by high-performance MOTUL lubricants. By bringing the B8 to Goodwood and participating in the Supercar Run, RUF says it is paying homage to its “hidden in plain sight” testing philosophy. Rather than simply describing its engineering capabilities, the company is allowing enthusiasts to experience the distinctive sound of its twin-turbo boxer-eight for the first time as the prototype climbs the famous hill. The specialized CTR3 also wears a bespoke livery that reflects the spirit of the project. Created in collaboration with Aloisa Ruf and OPTIMA Batteries, the design draws inspiration from the unmistakable Blossom Yellow color of the legendary CTR Yellowbird. Flowing graphics symbolize the number eight in continuous motion, representing the B8 designation while celebrating RUF’s ongoing process of engineering, testing, and refinement. “When designing the B8 livery, I wanted the graphics to tell the story of the car before anyone even heard the engine,” said Aloisa Ruf. “Every line represents movement, and the flowing form of the number eight became a natural symbol, not only for the new boxer eight-cylinder, but for the endless pursuit of improvement and refinement that has always been part of our family's philosophy. Combined with the unmistakable Blossom Yellow of the CTR Yellowbird, the design honors our heritage while looking confidently toward the future.” Although the Boxer 8 remains a prototype, its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed signals an important milestone for RUF. By introducing its first-ever eight-cylinder boxer engine in a working development vehicle rather than a showpiece, the German manufacturer is offering enthusiasts a glimpse into the engineering direction that should define its next generation of high-performance automobiles. RUF Launches Its 2026 Summer Collection Inspired by the CTR "Yellowbird"

As the automotive world shifts toward electrification and hybrid powertrains, many of us collectors and enthusiasts find ourselves longing for an era that may be considered forgotten. Back to a time when speed wasn't delivered at the press of a pedal, but earned behind the wheel. When lap times were decided not by software or launch control, but by the driver who could heel-and-toe through a corner. It’s an era that RUF Automobile continues to preserve with its ongoing dedication to building true driver’s cars, just as Alois Ruf Sr. first intended back in 1939. Under the creative direction of his granddaughter, Aloisa Ruf, RUF has since grown into a lifestyle beyond the interior, with curated collections that celebrate those monumental cars and the milestone moments that continue to shape the brand.Inspired by racing weekends, team apparel from past motorsport eras, and street culture, Aloisa and RUF Automobiles just launched their Summer 2026 Collection, featuring head-to-toe styles for those with a passion for all things automotive. The colorway of the collection also derives directly from the cars that have made RUF so popular over the years, with a yellow-and-black palette that nods to the iconic CTR “Yellowbird”. Made famous for outperforming the Ferrari F40 and laying down a blistering Nürburgring lap time, the RUF CTR was truly ahead of its time, with a 469-horsepower, twin-turbo rear-wheel-drive setup capable of 217mph. The Summer Collection includes vehicle studies, technical drawings, and graphics from the RUF archives on T-shirts, hoodies, long-sleeved shirts, and caps. Aloisa even tapped into the brand’s iconic green shade to inspire new looks, with clean, simple styles that reflect the same less-is-more approach as RUF’s motoring side. One of the release’s biggest highlights is a custom pair of RUF Driving sneakers, custom-made with dark green tones, touches of houndstooth, and a flatbottom gum sole designed specifically with analog driving in mind.  So whether you're one of the lucky few CTR Yellowbird owners or just an enthusiast who appreciates the art behind a well-built sports car, celebrate one of the greatest manufacturers of all time with RUF Automobile’s new 2026 Summer Collection. Warm Up With RUF's All-New 2025 Holiday Collection Curate...

RUF is in winter mode. It’s wild to think that the holiday season is quickly approaching, but the reality is that the temperatures are dropping and car collectors around the world are storing their prized possessions for the winter. Embracing the cold and using it as inspiration for its growing collection of automotive-driven fashion, the team at RUF Automobile just dropped its all-new seasonal 2025 Holiday Collection, designed and curated by none other than Aloisa Ruf herself. Rather than going heavy on big logos or an over-the-top “holiday merch” vibe, the lineup embraces the low-key, workshop vibe that feels so naturally RUF. The 13 pieces available at shop.ruf-automobile.de cover everything from winter layers to small everyday accessories, all sporting a wintry tone that’s more cozy than commercial. Aloisa Ruf What makes the 2025 RUF Holiday Collection genuinely cool is how you’ve got the winter basics, the Beanie, Scarf, Puffer Jacket, sitting right next to easy gifts like the ornament, mug, wallet, and toy cars. Then there are the more luxurious pieces like the champagne glasses, water glasses, and cufflinks. The RUF RODEO Hoodie and Cowboy Hat bring a little personality into the mix, very much in Aloisa’s wheelhouse of combining heritage with a fresh twist. And then, of course, the curveball, the custom RUF Skis made in collaboration with AK Ski in Switzerland, a fun nod to the enthusiast who loves the brand in ways that go beyond just cars. Aloisa Ruf Aloisa’s growing creative role is what gives the collection its warmth. Her approach feels personal, almost like she’s curating pieces she’d want to use rather than designing “merch.” That lines up perfectly with what has always made RUF special: simple ideas executed with care, without losing the human touch that defines a family-run workshop. As the last family-owned OE manufacturer of its type, RUF carries a certain charm that makes everything feel connected to something bigger, and this holiday collection captures that. $6,055,000 RUF Yellowbird Becomes The Most Expensive RUF ...

RUF's icon sells big at Amelia Island. A select few cars have truly cemented themselves as timeless icons, representing a moment in time and the evolution of an industry as a whole. For RUF Automobiles and its legacy of manufacturing some of the world's fastest sports cars on and off the track, the CTR 'Yellowbird' stands out as its pinnacle model and inspiration for future builds. Big things happened at Gooding & Company's Amelia Island auction, where a 1989 RUF CTR "Yellowbird" just sold for a jaw-dropping $6,055,000. Mike Maez, courtesy of Gooding & Co. That makes it the most expensive RUF ever auctioned, blowing past the last record of just over $1 million back in 2018. This particular example is one of just 29 CTR Yellowbirds ever made and one of only nine that were finished in the signature Blutengelb (Blossom Yellow) color. With under 1,700 kilometers on the odometer and only two owners, it's basically been preserved in time. Even better, it came with the Leichtbau (lightweight) spec and a six-speed RUF gearbox, making it even more desirable to collectors. Alois Ruf himself was on scene to witness the historic sale, proving that the demand for RUF has only grown over the years. Mike Maez, courtesy of Gooding & Co. For those who aren't familiar, the CTR Yellowbird made a name for itself in the late '80s as one of the fastest cars in the world. With a twin-turbo 3.4L flat-six pushing 463 horsepower, it was built to embarrass supercars of its time. Its insane 211 mph top speed, lightweight chassis, and raw driving experience made it a legend, especially after its famous Nürburgring run. With air-cooled performance icons continuing to rise in value, it's safe to say the Yellowbird is officially part of the big leagues.
