KALMAR Automotive, known for engineering bespoke sports cars and unique adventure vehicles, is proud to debut its new RS-6, a game-changer in the Porsche 911’s historic lineage. This first water-cooled model in their ‘Adventure Range’ aims to redefine what we expect from a classic sports car. The RS-6, drawing inspiration from the original KALMAR RS (‘Rally Special’), is built on a 996-generation Porsche 911. It offers a more accessible entry point into the world of overland adventures, without lacking practicality, usability, or driving dynamics. The adventurous newcomer made a striking debut at KALMAR Beyond Adventure’s Spirit of Speed events, where it braved the snowy terrains and icy lakes of Lapland in freezing -35°C conditions.
Despite its rugged off-road expertise, the RS-6 still maintains the essence of a classic Porsche sports car. Weighing just 3,174 lbs, it’s designed to conquer various terrains, from icy paths and mountain trails to sweeping roads and desert landscapes. Powered by a rugged Mezger water-cooled Porsche flat-six engine, it’s available in different models including the Carrera 2, Carrera 4, or Turbo, with options for left or right-hand drive and manual or Tiptronic gearboxes. Starting with a base power of 300 horsepower, there’s a tuning menu to boost this figure over 500 horsepower. The RS-6 features a unique suspension setup, including inverted front shock absorbers and a 210mm ground clearance, on par with a Porsche Cayenne. Lightweight alloy wheels with all-terrain or spiked winter tires complete its off-road look.
For the ultimate adventure seekers, KALMAR offers additional upgrades like adaptive shock absorbers and a hydraulic lift system to switch between off-road and on-road modes seamlessly. Standard features include a roof-mounted survival kit and an auxiliary LED light bar, with options for personalizing everything from the exterior livery to the interior design. Inside, the RS-6 is stripped down to essentials, fitted with Recaro seats and a rear roll cage, maintaining its lightweight and durable DNA. Optional competition gear like a full roll cage and timing systems are available for those looking to push the limits. With a starting price of EUR 45,000 plus taxes and a donor car, the RS-6 is an invitation to adventure in a Porsche like never before.
