Designed to extend the track-day season for 911 GT3 RS owners.
While engine horsepower and aerodynamics play a crucial role in the performance of any sports car, supercar, or hypercar, none of it matters if you can’t put the power to the ground with the appropriate tire setup. And with tires continuously evolving with new designs and technology, drivers are able to push their cars both on and off track in any condition with confidence. Today, Porsche and Michelin have teamed up to make wet and cool weather less of a roadblock for track-day enthusiasts with the launch of its all-new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 specifically designed for the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Offering better grip and precision in conditions that would typically keep cars in the garage, the Pilot Sport S 5 features a specialized tread pattern, deeper grooves, and a high-silica rubber compound. It’s designed to evacuate water efficiently and reach optimal temperature quickly, perfect for those looking to push their GT3 RS outside of the summer months.

The development process for the Pilot Sport S 5 involved extensive testing, including input from Porsche factory driver Jörg Bergmeister. On a wet, 1.7-mile test track, the tire helped the GT3 RS lap more than 10 seconds faster than the standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Porsche now offers four Michelin tire choices for the GT3 RS, including a dedicated winter option.
Set to be available exclusively through U.S. Porsche dealers, the Pilot Sport S 5 will be offered in 275/35 ZR 20 for the front and 335/30 ZR 21 for the rear. Pricing and availability details will be announced later, but for GT3 RS owners who don’t want rain and cool temps cutting their track season short, this tire is going to be a game-changer.
