This rare Porsche is getting auctioned for a worthy cause.
The Porsche 911 is one of the world’s favorite supercars, and has become one of the most ubiquitous automotive creations in the world since its introduction in 1963. In 2023, Porsche celebrated the 911’s 60th anniversary, along with its 75th anniversary as a manufacturer, and to celebrate, it launched an incredibly special version of the 911: the rare 911 S/T. Built to be the ultimate driver’s purist 911, it featured the powertrain and racing-focused weight savings of the 911 GT3 RS, along with a manual transmission, and the elegant, old-school styling choices and materials seen on 911 models from the past.
One of the 1,963 examples made of the Porsche 911 S/T (matching the year the 911 was introduced) will be auctioned by Porsche and RM Sotheby’s, with the proceeds going towards the American Red Cross in an effort to bolster the important work that the Red Cross does, especially in the light of the recent wildfires that have affected Southern California and the city of Los Angeles.
The vehicle is number 1,919 of 1,963, and it’s the only 911 S/T to be sold from PCNA’s internal vehicle pool to date. More importantly, it’s the only 911 S/T in the United States that hasn’t yet been assigned to a customer. That will change when it is auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s on the renowned auction house’s Online Only auction platform, with support drummed up for the auction by RM Sotheby’s, Porsche, and actor Orlando Bloom, an ambassador of Porsche Design who helped raise awareness for the sale.
In addition to the car, the winning bidder will also receive a unique timepiece from Porsche Design, a Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T made in Switzerland, and only made available to customers of the Porsche 911 S/T to match the car, with an engraved chassis number to prove it. Also coming with the car is a owner’s manual pouch signed by Andreas Preuninger, Director of Porsche’s GT model line. An incredibly special car and an incredibly important cause are coming together in this rare charity auction opportunity.
