Rivian unveils the next-gen R1S and R1T with more performance, new tech, and improved efficiency.
Rivian has just taken a massive leap forward in the EV world with the debut of the second generation of its flagship R1S SUV and R1T pickup. The new models have been updated, showcasing hundreds of hardware upgrades, performance enhancements, and a complete software overhaul. Despite the changes, Rivian’s distinctive design remains untouched, while new motor configurations and designs offer fresh options for customers. The revamped R1 delivers amazing power and range, with options including Tri-Motor and Quad-Motor setups. The Quad-Motor R1T rockets from 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds with a jaw-dropping 1,025 horsepower. Rivian’s new battery also packs promise up to 420 miles of range, catering to those looking for both performance and efficiency.
This next-gen platform also introduces a thermal system and 22-inch aero wheels, improving range and comfort. The advanced suspension and air springs provide a smoother ride without sacrificing off-road capabilities. A standout feature of the new R1 series is the Rivian Autonomy Platform, a cutting-edge system powered by 11 cameras, five radars, and AI technology. The system offers extra safety and convenience with features like Blind Spot Monitoring and Highway Assist. The premium version, Rivian Autonomy Platform+, takes things a step further with features like Lane Change on Command and Enhanced Highway Assist.
Rivian has also introduced several new options to enhance the driving experience. Owners can now use digital car keys via Apple Wallet or Google Pixel devices, offering seamless access and sharing capabilities. The interior of the R1 has been redesigned for a more airy and customizable feel, featuring a Dynamic Glass Roof and customizable lighting. A new software interface, powered by Unreal Engine, adds a playful touch, reflecting Rivian’s adventurous spirit. With starting prices of $75,900 for the R1S and $69,900 for the R1T, production is underway in Normal, Illinois, and orders can be placed at Rivian’s website for immediate delivery.
