Restored silver rare DB5 classic car in a showroom, with an inset showing the same car in rusted, damaged condition before its transformation at Aston Martin Works—an incredible story of revival.

By Khris Bharath –  December 03, 2025

A 50 Year Wait: Aston Martin Works Revives a rare DB5 tha...

You rarely encounter a restoration story that feels quite as special as this one. Plenty of people admire the Aston Martin DB5 from afar, especially for its James Bond (Sean Connery) 007 connection and  but very few spend 50 years holding on to one through early adulthood, career changes, and decades of everyday life passing by.  John Williams did exactly that, and back in the early 1970s, he decided that he wanted a DB5. In 1973 he spotted one in Motorsport magazine; a 1965 DB5 Vantage, Silver Birch, Weber carburetors, chrome wires, Sundym electric windows, a heated rear screen, and a five-speed box. Ironically, it was very close  to the example that appeared in Goldfinger (1964).  The ad listed it for £985, but he paid £900, which is about $19,000 today. After a brief test drive, he bought the car and drove the car back home, at age 19. The DB5 served as his daily driver until 1977, when he left for a job in Saudi Arabia. The car stayed on the driveway exposed to the elements. Sue Williams remembered kids bouncing on the bonnet and a child snapping the exhaust. The car’s condition continued to deteriorate,  but Williams refused to sell.  As time went on, he would realize how rare his specification was. Out of the 887 DB5 saloons, only 39 left the factory with the combination his car carries: Silver Birch, Vantage engine, and right-hand drive. That level of rarity matters in the collector car market, and you see why he held onto it. In late 2022 he delivered the car to Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, England the same place that built it almost six decades ago. Sending it back to its birthplace made sense. The DB5’s timeless shape came from renowned Italian coachbuilder, Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. Their Superleggera method created a light steel framework wrapped in hand formed aluminum panels and the result gave the DB5 its balanced proportions and clean surfacing, continuing to inspire Marek Reichman’s latest creations and modern Astons. The Works team had their work cut out in bringing this car back to life. They rebuilt the chassis, and renewed the Superleggera frame, reshaped every aluminum panel by hand, retrimmed the interior, and preserved original seat frames and the repaired gauge binnacle to retain character. After three years and 2,500 man hours, the team revived what is considered one of the coolest cars of all time. It was their combined experience that made this possible, leaving John teary-eyed when the car was finally revealed to him. A restored DB5 example with this specification would be in order at up to £1 million, roughly $1.26 million, placing it amongst the most expensive Aston Martins, with screen accurate DB5s fetching considerably more. When it receives a full factory restoration at Newport Pagnell, the market views it the same way it views a Ferrari with Classiche certification or a Lamborghini rebuilt under Polo Storico. These factory-backed programs confirm authenticity, preserve originality, and document every stage of the work. That level of verification strengthens long-term value and reduces risk for collectors. Aston Martin Partners with Tom Holland’s BERO for a New E...

Aston Martin teams up with Tom Holland’s alcohol-free beer brand BERO. Aston Martin just announced a new three-year partnership with BERO, the alcohol-free beer brand founded by award-winning UK actor Tom Holland and CEO John Herman. The collaboration, born during a meeting at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, links two British names that share a passion for heritage and craftsmanship. For Aston Martin, it marks an unexpected yet meaningful partnership with a brand that mirrors its quality and detail. While BERO may be rooted in the beverage world, the tie to Aston Martin certainly broadens its horizon for future collabs. Aston's legacy of hand-finished interiors, aero artistry, and track-inspired performance resonates with BERO's meticulous brewing process, one that uses handpicked grains and balanced hops to craft a premium alcohol-free beer. It's about two British brands aligning around a shared DNA of doing things the right way, not the easy way. Of course, the celebrity angle adds another layer of stardom. Tom Holland's involvement brings a personal story to the mix, one shaped by his own sobriety journey and long-standing admiration for Aston Martin. His role in co-founding BERO gives the collaboration an authentic edge. Over the next three years, BERO will appear across Aston Martin's worldwide events, content campaigns, and exclusive owner experiences, with talk of more collabs already on the horizon. While the exact details are still under wraps, both brands have hinted that whatever comes next will celebrate their respective crafts. As Aston Martin's Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman explained, both brands share "a pursuit of refined experiences." Shop Aston Martin x BERO Source: BERO x Aston Martin

Petersen Museum Celebrates Aston Martin’s Storied Legacy ...

All the very best Astons in one space. This fall, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is opening its first-ever Aston Martin exhibit, titled Performance and Prestige: A History of Aston Martin. Now open to the public, the exhibit explores more than a century of design and engineering from the British marque known for combining luxury, performance, and a touch of flair. It's a rare opportunity to see how the brand evolved from early racing machines to the modern hypercars, continuing to define its future. The showcase brings together more than a dozen cars that capture Aston Martin's most memorable moments. The 1949 DB2 Prototype represents the postwar rebirth of sports cars, earning a class podium at Le Mans and setting the stage for future DB models. The 1961 DB4GT Zagato, one of only nineteen built, remains a perfect meeting of British craftsmanship and Italian style. Across the room, the 1979 Bulldog stands as proof of Aston Martin's willingness to experiment, a one-off concept with gullwing doors and a twin-turbo V8 that still looks ahead of its time. More recent models like the 2015 Vulcan and 2021 Valkyrie Spider bring the brand's story into the modern era, with naturally aspirated V12s and track-inspired aero that blur the line between race car and road car. Adding a competitive edge, the Aston Martin AMR23 Formula 1 car sits proudly as part of the display. The car delivered eight podium finishes during the 2023 season with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, marking a strong return to top-tier motorsport. Positioned alongside its ancestors, it connects the brand's earliest racing dreams to its current pursuit for the podium. Since its founding in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, Aston Martin has balanced racing spirit with timeless design. The cars on display at Petersen show how that philosophy has endured, each reflecting the era it was built in. Performance and Prestige: A History of Aston Martin runs from October 26, 2025, through October 2026 at the Petersen Automotive Museum. All Aston Martins For Sale Source: Petersen Museum

Holman Motorcars & Denison Yachting Reveal Bespoke Aston ...

This pair of bespoke Aston Martins combines yachting luxury and automotive excellence. The worlds of both ultra-luxury yachting and supercars are integral parts of just about anyone’s dream luxury lifestyle, and South Florida is a known hub for both. With its stunning Atlantic coastline and gorgeous climate, South Florida is a capital for some of the most gorgeous vessels on the water, and the most dazzling supercars on the road. Aston Martin Fort Lauderdale, part of Holman Motorcars Fort Lauderdale, is celebrating the combination of yachting and supercar luxury with a pair of bespoke Aston Martin Vanquish flagship grand tourers. Commissioned by Holman Motorcars Fort Lauderdale, the cars were created in partnership with Denison Yachting and Bannenberg & Rowell Design, and the collection is titled “Above & Beyond,” with each of the two one-off Aston Martins being titled “Above,” and “Beyond.” They’re both designed with nautical influences throughout, and they debuted at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Bannenberg & Rowell’s upcoming Turquoise yachts, also called “Above” and “Beyond,” served as the inspirations for the two Vanquish commissions, and both feature a Lightning Silver exterior, chosen for its subtle blue reflections, and the accents and painstakingly crafted details throughout the exterior are inspired by the vessels, as well. The interiors, upholstered with Glacier White leather, are also inspired by yachting details, with pattern stitching reminiscent of bow waves as a gorgeous detail. The commissions mark a milestone in the four-year relationship between Denison Yachting and Holman Motorcars Fort Lauderdale, which draws on the natural connection between Aston Martin ownership and yachting. As gorgeous one-off commissions created by Aston Martin Q and commissioned by Holman Motorcars, Denison Yahcting, Bannenberg & Rowell, “Above” and “Beyond” are both available for immediate delivery from Aston Martin Fort Lauderdale. Aston Martin Expands Real Estate Empire With Daytona Beac...

Aston Martin’s design language has long shaped some of the world’s most desirable grand tourers. Now, the British marque is applying that same sense of performance and proportion to real estate. In partnership with Valor Real Estate Development, Aston Martin has announced its latest residential project: Aston Martin Residences Daytona Beach Shores – an 18-story oceanfront sanctuary just minutes from the legendary Daytona International Speedway. This new development marks the next evolution in Aston Martin’s journey beyond the road, joining an established portfolio of world-class properties that began with the record-breaking Aston Martin Residences Miami and now extends across the globe to Tokyo, where the brand recently completed a bespoke four-bedroom townhouse in the city’s prestigious Omotesandō neighborhood. Craftsmanship Beyond the Automobile Spanning roughly 215,000 square feet, the Daytona Beach Shores property will include 86 residences across 18 floors, featuring two parking levels and two double-height penthouse levels with eight ultra-luxury homes. Each residence is designed to deliver the same meticulous craftsmanship found in Aston Martin’s finest cars – defined by flowing lines, sculpted materials, and the pursuit of elegance in motion. Every unit will offer panoramic ocean views and direct beach access, complemented by elevated amenities including fine dining venues, a bakery, and curated communal spaces inspired by the marque’s design philosophy. “Our world-class experience with crafted materials, high-quality detail design, and dynamic, expressive forms finds a natural expression in architecture,” said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer. “Daytona Beach Shores will allow us to take our holistic design approach to another level – merging bespoke interior elements with the rhythm and emotion of the oceanfront setting.” The Spirit of Speed and Luxury Few locations resonate more deeply with Aston Martin’s motorsport heritage than Daytona; the new residences will sit only a short drive from the fabled high-banked Speedway, home to both the Daytona 500 and the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Aston Martin has an impressive history at the circuit, including a one-two GTD class finish at the 2023 Rolex 24, and its Valkyrie hypercar is set to race there in 2026, having missed the ’25 edition. “Every drive deserves a destination,” said Valor Real Estate Development CEO Moises Agami. “Partnered with Aston Martin’s unmatched craftsmanship and ultra-luxury vision, the Daytona Beach Shores residences will redefine coastal living and set a new benchmark for design and exclusivity.” A Global Vision for Ultra-Luxury Living The partnership between Aston Martin and Valor Real Estate Development represents a broader expansion into high-end real estate across North America, with additional landmark projects planned for Mexico City and Tampa Bay. With its blend of design pedigree, motorsport heritage, and lifestyle appeal, Aston Martin Residences Daytona Beach Shores signals a bold step forward for the brand – where the thrill of the drive meets the serenity of the ocean. How to Buy: The PUMA Motorsport x Aston Martin Aramco F1 ...

Aston Martin F1's paddock just got a whole new look. They say if you look good, you play good, and in Formula 1, that's more than just a saying. From the drivers and engineers to the crew in the paddock, performance wear is a mindset. Precision tailoring, technical fabrics, and fuel-inspired designs all mirror the same pursuit of perfection that plays out on track. It's an approach that the professionals at PUMA Motorsport have mastered since their start in 2001, alongside the Jordan Grand Prix team. Today, PUMA Motorsports prides itself on being the sole apparel, footwear, and accessories partner of Formula 1 and teams like Aston Martin Aramco, Scuderia Ferrari, and Williams Racing. PUMA and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team have teamed up once again, this time with a collection dubbed "Engineered for the Everyday." It's a lineup that pulls inspiration from the rhythm of the racetrack but is grounded in the realities of daily life. The idea is to capture that shared sense of precision and motion that defines both brands. The cuts are clean, the fabrics move naturally, and the designs borrow just enough from the team's F1 identity without leaning into costume territory. The Replica Collection offers fans an authentic link to the team, reimagined through wearable pieces beyond race weekends. The collection carries that same mindset into casual wear. The Tech Jacket and relaxed-fit Pants look built for motion but don't feel overdesigned. The hoodies and jerseys, in Aston Martin green or classic black, give a nod to team spirit. And then there's the Inverse sneaker, which might be the purest expression of this collaboration. The collection is now available at PUMA stores, online at PUMA.com, and select retailers globally. Aston Martin Unveils DB12 S – A New Pinnacle of Super Tou...

Aston Martin has revealed its newest DB12 halo model for 2026 – the S. Building on the thrilling, driver-focused DB12, this enhanced version pushes the envelope of performance and luxury. With more power, refined chassis dynamics, and an even more expressive exhaust note, the DB12 S is the ultimate evolution of the marque’s celebrated Super Tourer concept. Joining the DBX S and Vantage S, the DB12 S continues Aston Martin’s long-standing tradition of reserving the ‘S’ badge for its highest-performing derivatives. This lineage stretches back to 1953 with the DB3S road racer and includes icons such as the Vanquish S, V8 and V12 Vantage S, and the Rapide S. Elevated Power and Precision At the heart of the new DB12 S lies an even more potent iteration of Aston Martin’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Now producing 700 PS at 6,000 rpm and 800 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm, the DB12 S sprints to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 202 mph. In keeping with its intensified character, the DB12 S features a distinctive new quad-tailpipe stainless steel sports exhaust system, tuned to enhance engine frequencies across the rev range. For enthusiasts seeking an even more visceral soundtrack, an optional titanium exhaust reduces weight by 11.7 kilograms while amplifying sound levels by 1.5 decibels. Aston Martin engineers have refined the car’s Launch Control system, cutting gearshift times by more than 50% and improving acceleration. The S-specific drive-by-wire throttle delivers greater precision, offering drivers a more progressive and intuitive connection to the car’s immense power. Sharpened Handling, Greater Agility Aston Martin has extensively reworked the DB12 S chassis for superior handling and feedback. Recalibrated Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, a stiffer rear anti-roll bar, and optimized camber, toe, and caster settings bring sharper front-end response and improved agility. The steering calibration and electronic rear differential have also been fine-tuned for a more natural, communicative feel. The result is a car that delivers an impeccable balance of agility, stability, and confidence – one that encourages drivers to push harder, earlier, and with greater control from corner entry to exit. “The technology we introduced with the DB12 now allows us exceptional scope to explore a new depth of character and capability within the same vehicle platform,” said Simon Newton, Aston Martin Director of Vehicle Performance. “With DB12 S we have carefully engineered a host of detailed changes, which preserve signature levels of refinement, boost vehicle performance and amplify driver engagement. Having added this greater dynamic and performance bandwidth to DB12 S, we believe this elevates the Super Tourer ethos to a thrilling new level.” Carbon Ceramic Brakes and Predictive Control Every DB12 S comes standard with Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) – massive 410 mm rotors up front and 360 mm in the rear. These reduce unsprung weight by 27 kilograms compared to steel brakes while providing exceptional fade resistance, linear pedal feel, and consistent performance. The DB12 S also introduces the latest generation of Corner Braking Control (CBC), a system that integrates Brake Slip Control and Vehicle Control modules for optimal stability and torque vectoring. By using predictive algorithms, the CBC system enables later, more confident braking, maintaining tighter cornering lines even during trail braking. Distinctive Design, Inside and Out Visually, the DB12 S exudes performance through purposeful design. The front end features a new dual-element splitter and functional bonnet louvres, both enhancing aerodynamics while visually lowering and widening the car’s stance. Gloss black sill extensions flow seamlessly into the new rear diffuser, framing the stacked quad exhausts and a fixed rear spoiler that boosts high-speed stability. Handmade ‘S’ badges in bright or dark chrome, finished with red glass enamel, mark the car as the pinnacle of DB12 performance. Inside, the DB12 S continues Aston Martin’s blend of bespoke craftsmanship and modern sophistication. Unique interior elements include a red anodized drive mode controller, matching contrast stitching and seatbelt detailing, and optional Alcantara® heated sports steering wheel. Buyers can choose from three interior themes – Accelerate, Inspire S semi-aniline, and Inspire S full semi-aniline leather – all featuring S Herringbone quilting and micro-perforations. Standard equipment includes 16-way Sport Plus electric seats, while performance-focused owners can opt for the Carbon Fibre Performance seat. Ordering Now Open The Aston Martin DB12 S will be available in Coupe and Volante body styles, with deliveries beginning in Q1 2026. Pricing is yet to be confirmed by Aston, but is expected to be in the region of $270,000 (Coupe) and $290,000 (Volante). With its elevated performance, refined craftsmanship, and unmistakable Aston Martin DNA, the DB12 S redefines what it means to be a modern Super Tourer – a car as thrilling to drive as it is to behold.
