Bugatti Reveals The New Sur Mesure W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’

With Bugatti’s Sur Mesure bespoke program, the possibilities for creative expression are virtually endless. Already some of the most desirable, luxurious, and exclusive vehicles on the planet, Sur Mesure adds a layer of individuality that makes a Bugatti a truly unique statement. The latest commission to emerge from Bugatti Sur Mesure is one of just 99 Bugatti W16 Mistral examples, and it belongs to a collector who celebrates nature with insect-themed commissions. Named the W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug,’ the new commission joins the others: the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse ‘Hellbug,’ the Bugatti Chiron ‘Hellbee,’ and the Bugatti Divo ‘Lady Bug.’ Each of them, including the newest, celebrates the marvel of some of the smallest and most overlooked fauna in the world. In the case of the dragonfly, it was the creature’s iridescent wings and effortless speed that inspired the configuration. What started as a personal exchange between the collector and Frank Heyl, Bugatti’s Head of Design, was then handled by the Color, Materials, and Finish team in Bugatti’s Design Studio in Berlin, whose task was to make sure that while the Mistral was a unique creation, it also remained cohesive with the rest of the insect-themed Bugatti collection. A bespoke color called ‘Dragonfly Blue’ adorns the exterior, and it shifts between blue and turquoise in the light like the iridescence of a dragonfly’s wings. An ellipse pattern can be seen throughout the interior and the exterior, and even incorporates the Bugatti Macaron emblem, which was a technical challenge for the team. <- Gallery -> Months of work were involved in bringing the new Bugatti W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’ to life, and it now sits alongside a stunningly curated collection of other bespoke Bugatti masterpieces. Showcasing yet another beautiful bespoke hypercar, Bugatti’s latest Sur Mesure creation is the result of a collector’s cohesive vision, and Bugatti’s design expertise, from the brand’s Head of Design and from the Berlin Design Studio. Porsche Sells Stakes In Bugatti Rimac

2021 saw the formation of Bugatti Rimac, a combination of Rimac Group with the historic and cherished Bugatti brand that saw Rimac Group as the majority owner and Porsche as the minority stakeholder, with Porsche also holding stakes in Rimac Group. However, that arrangement is now changing, as Porsche and Rimac Group have announced the sale of Porsche’s stake in the Bugatti Rimac company and Rimac Group to HOF Capital. The consortium includes BlueFive Capital as its largest investor, along with a group of institutional investors across the US and EU. Once the sale is complete, Rimac Group is set to take control of Bugatti Rimac while entering a strategic partnership with HOF Capital and BlueFive Capital. The transaction is set to be complete before the end of 2026. While the deal is still subject to regulatory clearances and other customary conditions precedent, the announcement of the sale of Porsche’s stakes in Rimac Group and Bugatti mark the beginning of a new era for both the Bugatti brand and Rimac Group’s various businesses, including, of course, the Rimac Automobili manufacturer. Already known for its mastery of performance-oriented EV tech and electric mobility innovation, Rimac’s hypercars have demonstrated a previously unprecedented level of performance potential for electric cars, and as Bugatti launches its Tourbillon hypercar, the same is being done for hybrid vehicles. A naturally aspirated V16 engine combining with electrified power is going to rewrite the rulebooks of automotive performance, as Bugatti’s 21st-century hypercars have done for over 20 years. With a new strategic partner, Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac are poised to continue growing and evolving in the future. View All Bugatti For Sale Image Source: Bugatti Rimac

For over a century, Bugatti has and continues to propel its name as an automotive pioneer, with a lineage of supercars and hypercars that serve as a rolling timeline of performance, but the Molsheim manufacturer doesn’t stop there. In efforts to exude luxury in all aspects of life, Bugatti expanded its lifestyle portfolio through high-end home furnishings with Luxury Living Group, which is now celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Bugatti Reveals Arctic Test Footage of the Tourbillon V16 Hypercar

Earlier in the year, we watched Bugatti Rimac CEO, Mate Rimac, put the upcoming Bugatti Tourbillon through its paces in the snow. Now, newly released footage shows the Tourbillon deep inside Sweden’s Arctic testing grounds. Three prototypes have now covered more than 4,970 miles near the Arctic Circle, supported by a 28-person specialist team, with temperatures dropping to minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit. Every input, from throttle mapping to regenerative braking, is recalibrated for a surface that offers minimal grip. The setting reveals details that controlled environments cannot. Against a frozen lake, the Bugatti Tourbillon’s exposed carbon fiber bodywork reads differently. Aerodynamic surfaces, especially the rear diffuser and wing assembly, stand out sharply against the snow after repeated drift cycles. Engineers use these sessions to study airflow disruption, stability, and heat management when the car transitions between grip and slip at high speed. View this post on Instagram A post shared by BUGATTI (@bugatti)   Close inspection of the tires reveals a dedicated winter setup, with deep tread blocks working to extract traction. It allows for calibration of torque delivery from the hybrid system, ensuring that all 1,800 horsepower can be deployed progressively, even when traction is limited. Inside, the prototype environment is unapologetically raw. Exposed wiring runs across the cabin, feeding continuous data back to engineers. On the dash sits the mechanical instrument cluster from which this hypercar takes its name. Made from over 600 components in titanium, sapphire, and ruby. It continues to function without compromise despite sustained exposure to extreme cold. As a refresher, power comes from an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 developed with Cosworth, paired with three electric motors. Two operate at the front axle, one at the rear, for a combined 1,800 horsepower. 0 to 60 mph takes under 2 seconds, with a top speed of 276 mph.  When you think hypercar, you think garage queens in air-conditioned rooms or fancy concours lawns. But manufacturers often put these cars through their paces in some of the world's most hostile conditions before they ever reach the market. Carrying a sticker price of $4million, only 250 units of the Tourbillion will be made, all of which have already been spoken for. View All Bugattis For Sale Images: @bugatti

How the $4M Bugatti Tourbillon Turns Interior Into Personal Space

While the configuration process for most common luxury cars today seems less exciting, with scaled-back color options and a few convenient packages to elevate the interior, they still give owners the opportunity to spec a car based on their tastes. Now, when you make the decision to opt for Bugatti’s newest flagship hypercar, the $4 million Tourbillon, buyers are not only given complete creative control, but also work closely with the manufacturer to make their wildest dreams come true. Giving enthusiasts a behind-the-scenes look at the Tourbillon’s engineering and production through its YouTube docuseries, A New Era, Bugatti dives into the mastery of interior design on its latest episode, Episode 14: Automotive Couture. The undertaking of styling not only one of the fastest and most expensive hypercars but also the future of the brand itself is assigned to its in-house CMF (Color, Material, and Finish) team. At the center of that process is Sabine Consolini, Bugatti’s Head of CMF, whose team is tasked with shaping every tactile and visual surface that defines the Tourbillon experience. Inside Bugatti’s Design Studio, where clients are invited for private configuration sessions, materials are treated as works of art themselves. For the first time in Bugatti history, fabrics are now part of the Tourbillon’s interior palette. That includes hand-woven textiles sourced from Kyoto, Japan, crafted with metallic yarn and washi paper strips, as well as  knitted fabrics that create 3D effects under shifting light. All Bugatti Inventory True to the brand’s philosophy, every surface remains natural, aluminum is real aluminum, glass is real glass, and new leather is softer thanks to a new tanning process created specifically for the Tourbillon. The watch-inspired instrument cluster, developed alongside Swiss horology specialists, brings haute horology into the cockpit. From diamond-infused paint finishes to one-of-one color commissions, the Bugatti Tourbillon cements a real relationship between the brand and owner.

1-of-1 Bugatti La Voiture Noire Returns to Market With Its Original Owner Finally Revealed

For years, the single-unit Bugatti La Voiture Noire stood out as the ultimate automotive mystery.  Unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show by then Bugatti CEO Stephan Winkelmann, the one-off hypercar was already sold for approximately €16.7 million, about $18.7 million including taxes, even before it was revealed to the public.  The La Voiture Noire featured on the cover of our May 2019 issue was recognized as the world’s most expensive new car. Bugatti described it as a one-of-a-kind “haute couture” creation. Only the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail, priced between $30 million and $32 million, and the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, at around $28 million, have since surpassed them when looking at the most expensive cars in the world. The secrecy around its ownership fueled intense speculation. Names ranged from elite athletes to high-net-worth collectors. It turns out the hypercar was purchased by former Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piëch. The deal actually took place back in 2019, but it was never officially confirmed, fueling endless speculation. Piëch’s influence on Bugatti runs deep, and the French marque recently paid tribute to him in January this year with the F.K.P. Homage, which was a Solitaire one-off. He pushed the development of the legendary 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine that powered the Veyron to its record-setting 253 mph top speed back in the mid-2000s. He famously sketched the W16 concept by hand while traveling at 199 mph on a Japanese bullet train.  That same architecture sits at the core of La Voiture Noire. Designed by Etienne Salomé, the car itself draws directly from the lost Type 57 SC Atlantic, one of four built in the 1930s. One chassis, known as “La Voiture Noire,” vanished before World War II and remains missing. Bugatti’s modern interpretation carries six exhaust outlets, a sculpted black carbon-fiber body with a prominent dorsal fin that runs along the length of the vehicle, and proportions that echo the original Atlantic’s long hood and fastback profile. Piëch sadly passed away in 2019, the same year the car debuted. Delivery followed in 2021, transferring ownership to his son, Anton Piëch. This one-off hypercar is currently being offered through a discreet broker. According to German newspaper Handelsblatt, which says it has access to exclusive sales documents, La Voiture Noire is offered through a discreet process of submission of offers for 23 million Swiss francs, or about $28.8 million.  The move ties directly to funding needs for Piëch Automotive, the electric vehicle startup co-founded in 2017 by Anton Pïech. The company continues to face delays and has yet to bring a production model to market. This sale closes a rare loop in automotive history. View All Bugattis For Sale  <- Gallery -> Images: Bugatti

This One-Off Bugatti Might Be the Most Personal Yet

While every Bugatti hypercar that rolls off its Molsheim production line proves to be perfect in its own way, some specs push the boundaries of design, utilizing the full capabilities of the marque’s craftsmanship and personalization capabilities. If you’re an owner looking to configure a true 1-of-1 masterpiece, Bugatti’s Sur Mesure allows almost every element outside and inside the car to be individualized. Today, Bugatti is proud to spotlight Sur Mesure with an incredible, recently-completed W16 Mistral named “Caroline”, a heartfelt celebration of family. That process plays out across Bugatti’s design ecosystem, from Molsheim to Berlin, where the Color & Material Finish team works through ideas that aren’t always easy to define upfront. In this case, the inspiration pulled from lavender fields in Provence and the layered textures of haute couture, eventually landing on a bespoke “Lavender” finish that feels more vibrant than it first seems. Depending on the light, it shifts between cooler and warmer tones, giving the exterior a sense of movement even when the car is standing still. Underneath, exposed violet-tinted carbon fiber adds a touch of contrast. The more intricate work shows up in the details. Along the rear wing, a hand-painted floral piece turns what’s usually an aero element into something closer to a canvas, revealed fully when the air brake deploys.Inside, that same idea continues through embroidery, where thousands of stitches build out floral patterns across the seats and panels. It’s the kind of craftsmanship that doesn’t immediately demand attention but rewards it the longer you spend with it.What makes ‘Caroline’ interesting isn’t just the individual elements, but how they come together to transform a hypercar into an actual work of art. The floral theme could easily have gone too far, but here it stays subtle, woven into the car rather than placed on top. Even details like the glass-encased elephant sculpture in the center console feel carefully considered.  In the end, it’s about capturing a feeling and a story, something personal, translated through materials and color. For a car built in extremely limited numbers, that’s what matters most. All Bugatti Inventory

Inside The 2026 Bugatti Grand Tour: South Africa

While most traditional car-buying experiences end once you take delivery and drive off the lot, entering the hypercar realm opens the door to something much bigger and more luxurious. With Bugatti, ownership comes with a calendar full of experiences, including private track time, exclusive unveilings, and, of course, the annual Grand Tour. For 2026, that meant eight days driving through South Africa, starting in Cape Town, with a fleet spanning its production timeline: Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, multiple Bugatti Chiron variants, and the all-new, open-top Mistral. Accompanying the owners were a few familiar names at Bugatti: Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac; Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles; and Hendrik Malinowski, Managing Director of Bugatti.Once the wheels were turning, the route wasted no time delivering scenic views and twisting roads. Departing beneath Table Mountain, the convoy traced the coastline before climbing onto Chapman’s Peak Drive, which is arguably one of the best driving roads on the planet. It’s where you’re constantly torn between focusing on the next corner and just pulling over to get the perfect photo. The drive continued south toward the Cape of Good Hope, then inland through the vineyards of Tulbagh, before eventually reaching Cape Agulhas, a quiet, windswept spot where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. It’s a reminder that no matter how fast the cars are, the landscape still sets the pace, and a casual cruise is just as thrilling. The middle stretch of the trip traded asphalt for a stop at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve. Safari drives replaced high-speed runs, and the focus shifted from horsepower to wildlife, with lions, elephants, and everything in between. Back on the road, the hypercar convoy cut through the wide-open scenery of the Klein Karoo and followed Route 62. The final leg looped back toward the coast and into the Cape Winelands, wrapping things up near Franschhoek Motor Museum. By the end, the 2026 Bugatti Grand Tour highlighted the landscape just as much as the incredible hypercars on the journey, brought together with just enough adventure to remind everyone why they signed up in the first place.
