Mercedes-AMG has named Brad Pitt as the face of a new global campaign for its electric GT 4-Door Coupé, extending a relationship that began with the Hollywood actor's appearance alongside a prototype of the car last year.

The campaign, dubbed "TOO HARD TO RESIST," launches globally, following the production car's world premiere in Los Angeles in May. Filmed in Los Angeles, the campaign puts Pitt on a staged movie set where a GT 4-Door finsihed in stealthy satin black initially appears as part of the production before becoming the focus of the film. The action includes burnouts and drifting, with the car's "Agility" setting selected. Pitt then mometarily returns to the set and asks to go again, with the second sequence culminating in a staged pyrotechnic explosion.

The short clip follows Pitt behind the wheel through staged action sequences and across L.A.'s Sixth Street Viaduct, the same landmark that served as the backdrop for the GT 4-Door's world premiere earlier this year. The campaign was directed by Simon McQuoid, with Tony Petersen Film handling production and agency team x leading the creative work.

The GT 4-Door is the first production model based on Mercedes-AMG's dedicated AMG.EA electric performance architecture. It uses three axial-flux electric motors and directly cooled battery cells, with the GT 63 producing up to 1,153 horsepower. We watched the car through final winter testing before Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius and F1 development driver Doriane Pin took it out together.

Much of that technology was previewed by the Concept AMG GT XX in June last year. The roughly 1,340-horsepower concept was subsequently taken to Italy's Nardò test track, where it set a 24-hour EV distance record. It later covered a distance equivalent to a lap around the globe in just over eight days at the Nardò ring in southern Italy.

Brad Pitt's involvement with Mercedes-AMG predates the latest campaign. We tracked his F1 film from the start, and the automaker later produced a limited series of GT 63 coupés carrying APXGP-inspired liveries. Pitt then appeared alongside Mercedes Formula 1 driver George Russell and a camouflaged GT 4-Door prototype during the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November last year.
