It seemed to be a easy trick for the Olympic skateboarder.
For any avid car enthusiast with a soft sport McLaren, it would be the ultimate dream to visit the world-famous McLaren Technology Centre in the U.K., where the manufacturer houses some of its most exclusive and priceless creations. For Yuto Horigome, the two-time Olympic gold medalist skateboarder got a firsthand look at McLaren’s headquarters on four wheels. The visit included checking out the Formula 1 team’s setup and the production center before hopping into the 700-horsepower Artura Spider for a drive. But the highlight of the day came when McLaren transformed part of its famous boulevard into a skate park. Horigome pulled off a massive ramp-to-ramp ollie over a parked Artura coupe.
Beyond the skating and supercars, Horigome also got a taste of McLaren’s esports world, testing out the newest racing simulators used by the McLaren Shadow team. And as a parting gift, he took home a custom skateboard deck painted by McLaren Special Operations. For Horigome, the whole experience was something outside of his regular everyday routine: driving a McLaren, skating inside a high-tech automotive HQ, and landing tricks next to some of the world’s most coveted cars.
