LeBron James made headlines earlier this year when he revealed a one-off Mercedes-Maybach S680 designed to his own specs. Now, a near-identical version is heading to auction, offering collectors a chance to own the NBA star’s spin on one of the most luxurious cars on the market. Gooding Christie’s will auction the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 at Retromobile New York in November, with proceeds going to the LeBron James Family Foundation and its I PROMISE program in Akron, Ohio. The auction car is identical to the Maybach LeBron commissioned for himself, with some custom options that make it stand out from a standard S 680. The exterior is finished in a MANUFAKTUR-exclusive Light Ivory, while the cabin combines Stormy Weather blue Nappa leather with porcelain contrast stitching. James’ signature appears on the headrests, floor mats and cushions, and a custom badge featuring his personal logo takes the place of the factory V12 emblem. There’s also a badge referencing the coordinates of Akron, where James grew up and where his foundation continues to work with local families.

The build comes from Mercedes-Benz’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program, which allows customers to work directly with the designers for a more personal touch. That means choosing unusual paint colors and interior materials or adding custom embroidery and other details. In this case, the program gave LeBron a way to bring tell parts of his own story through a Mercedes-Maybach, and the auction car follows that inspiration. Before the auction, the S 680 will be on display at Mercedes-Benz Manhattan from November 9th through 16th. Led by Gérard Neveu, Retromobile New York brings together the experience of Comexposium, the organization behind Rétromobile Paris, and duPont REGISTRY Group. The event is the first U.S. edition of the long-running Rétromobile show, welcoming collector cars and automotive enthusiasts from around the world to New York.Through the I PROMISE program, the organization works with students and families in Akron, offering educational support and resources for housing, healthcare, job training, and financial literacy. The foundation has made supporting James’ hometown a key part of its work. The car is scheduled to cross the block at Retromobile New York in November, adding a celebrity-designed luxury sedan to this year’s collector car auction calendar.
