Porsche 963 to Run Historic Mobil 1 911 GT1-Inspired Livery at 12 Hours of Sebring

Wearing historic racing colors, the GTP endurance racers leads the field into a pivotal Sebring weekend

Porsche has just unveiled a striking new Mobil 1 livery for both its 963 prototypes ahead of the 12 Hours of Sebring, marking 30 years of technical collaboration with ExxonMobil.

Compared to the traditional red and black colors, the Sebring livery adopts a predominantly white base, accented by bold blue and red striping inspired by the 1996 Porsche 911 GT1. It is cleaner, more retro in tone, and deliberately tied to a defining moment when Porsche and Mobil 1 first aligned on both racing and road car development.

“The close and highly trusted partnership between Porsche and Mobil 1 has produced countless unforgettable moments and lasting innovations.” - Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President, Porsche Motorsport.

With Porsche having withdrawn its factory effort from the FIA World Endurance Championship after the 2025 season, historic venues like Sebring on the IMSA race calendar now carry greater importance and weight within Porsche’s global motorsport program.

The 3.74-mile circuit, built on a former military airfield in Central Florida, remains one of the most punishing venues in endurance racing. Around 30 percent of the surface consists of concrete slabs, creating sustained vibration and stress across the gruelling 12-hour race. It is a track that rewards durability as much as outright speed.

Last season, Porsche Penske Motorsport secured both the IMSA GTP manufacturer and team championships, supported by victories at Daytona and Sebring. A one-two finish here confirmed the 963’s ability to combine pace with consistency.

“In the tightly contested IMSA series, the smallest details make the difference,” - Urs Kuratle, Director Factory Motorsport LMDh.

Porsche enters as the benchmark. The #7 car, driven by Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich, leads the championship after victory at Daytona in January this year. The sister #6 entry sits fourth, while Porsche leads the manufacturers’ standings.

Beyond GTP, Porsche fields multiple 911 GT3 R entries across GTD Pro and GTD, alongside seven 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport cars in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. The new 992.2-based 911 Cup car also debuts in North America this week.

With 19 overall Sebring victories, Porsche holds the event’s benchmark. This weekend, the 963 carries that legacy forward at a moment when the German marque’s endurance future is being reshaped around North America.
