The Velocity Invitational in Sonoma saw 20,000 fans enjoy a fusion of racing legends, hypercars, and fine local delights.
The fourth annual Velocity Invitational at Sonoma Raceway proved to be a motoring enthusiast’s paradise, drawing over 20,000 attendees to a festival that celebrates the rich diversity of the automotive world. Featuring everything from hypercars to historic Formula 1 vehicles and professional drivers, the event, held November 10th-12th, was a high-octane showcase of speed and style. The event was headlined by McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris and graced by other notable figures from McLaren Racing, including CEO Zak Brown. The star-studded lineup also included drivers from the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team and NEOM McLaren Extreme E, who took to the track in the most extensive collection of heritage McLarens ever assembled for the event. Other iconic cars included Niki Lauda’s 1984 championship-winning MP4/2A-1 and the formidable MP4/6-10 driven by Ayrton Senna.
A highlight of the weekend was the global unveiling of McLaren’s limited production “3-7-59” 750S and the public debut of the Ford GT Mk IV. The latter made an appearance on the track, flexing its muscles with demonstration laps. The festival also featured a dynamic mix of racing disciplines. Attendees experienced ride-alongs, watched professional rally drivers from DirtFish Rally School in action, and were entertained by an unprecedented Sprint Car exhibition race. Jeff O’Neill, the founder of Velocity Invitational, celebrated the event’s success and its embodiment of automotive passion, thanking all contributors for making the immersive weekend a reality. With plans to enhance next year’s event, Velocity Invitational has cemented its status as a premier destination for car aficionados and racing fans alike.
