Mark your calendar for the return of ‘the party of the weekend’! It’s a can’t-miss date and a natural addition to any social calendar of aficionados of autos and aviation. It also helps that the red-carpet reception warms up with beautiful automobiles, aircraft, and a glorious sunset and offers delicious food and drink while a live band gets the party started. The Hangar Amelia Island, hosted by Bent Wing Flight Services, will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 3 pm to 6 pm, on the eve of the 29th annual Amelia Concours d’Elegance in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island in Florida.
It’s been a fast sell, and this year’s edition of Hangar Amelia Island is already looking like a feast for the eyes: classic and modern car and plane engineering side by side, from the 1966 Ferrari 206 S Dino to the 1955 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, the 1966 Porsche 906 and the 1987 Porsche 962. A fleet of super and hypercars will also be on view, as will some historic aircraft, including the 1938 Lockheed 12A and the Albatross N51ZD.
This year, a new slew of partners might make for an even more exciting weekend for all. Two aircraft jewels from VistaJet’s global fleet – the Challenger 350 and the Gulfstream G450 business jets – will lead the way, making this the most exclusive aerial spectacle ever seen over Britain’s capital. Former Maxim model and Formula 1 chief test driver Susie Wolff will take to the wheel of a collector car, courtesy of McLaren Motorcars. And watchmaker Roger Dubuis will present a collection of the finest contemporary haute horlogerie, culminating in the dynamic, tire-rubber-clad Excalibur Spider Pirelli timepiece – attendees will have the opportunity to try out a ‘pit stop’ challenge, racing against the clock to change the colorway of a timepiece.
Companies like Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and McLaren, who are pulling out all the stops, will not only be exhibiting but showcasing their latest models, including the McLaren 750S and the next-generation hybrid supercar, the Artura. This year, Amelia Island has forged an alliance with Hagerty and The Amelia that elevates the experience for those undertaking the pilgrimage to Amelia Island for the weekend.
In a press release, the co-founders, Shamin Abas and Jeffrey Einhorn, were elated that the event was returning for another year. Promising a celebration of art, automobiles, and aircraft, they proclaimed: “We are having more than a party, we are providing an experience where your guests can enjoy incredible food and music in an environment of curated exotic and rare automobiles and spectacular vintage and modern aircraft displays.”
It is on a first-come-first-served basis, but if you are interested – and if you know what’s good for you – the Advance Pole Position tickets are available now for the second annual running of The Hangar Amelia for $295. After 19 February 2024, the tickets will go up to $350, with a portion of each ticket going to Friends of Fernandina Aviation. Go to www.TheHangarAmelia.com to purchase tickets.
