Rimac’s partnership with Bugatti yields a hybrid masterpiece.
Bugatti made shockwaves when it announced that the historic French manufacturer would be merging with Rimac, the meteorically rising star in the electric vehicle manufacturing world, known for its groundbreaking Nevera, one of the world’s fastest and most exclusive hypercars in the world, and certainly one of the greatest electric vehicles yet. Opening a new chapter for both Bugatti and Rimac, the merger has unlocked new possibilities for both brands, combining Bugatti’s opulence and century of luxury vehicle craftsmanship with Rimac’s cutting-edge technology and electric vehicle engineering expertise.
The first result of the incredible merger is the new Bugatti Tourbillon, which brandishes an incredible 1,800 horsepower from a V16 naturally aspirated engine from Cosworth with a hybrid electric system, whose performance is courtesy of the Rimac half of the Bugatti Rimac pair. The Rimac Technology arm of Rimac was instrumental in delivering the electric portion of the new Bugatti Tourbillon’s incredible performance, with an 800V system that partners seamlessly with the immensely powerful engine for unmatched performance.
Thanks to the innovative technology and software in Rimac’s Silicon Carbide inverter, the Tourbillon makes the most of its powertrain with both high performance and efficiency. Meanwhile, the T-shaped 25 kWh battery pack uses 1,500 cells and Rimac’s state-of-the-art oil-cooling technology to optimize safety and longevity, and its placement also helps optimize weight distribution. Thanks to the partnership with Rimac, the century-old Bugatti not only continues to remain at the highest echelon of the automotive industry, but also gains access to cutting edge technology to push the performance envelope forward in the way the Veyron did over 20 years ago.
