TURAH Restomods: A New Chapter for Mercedes-Benz Classics

TURAH Restomods: A New Chapter for Mercedes-Benz Classics

There is a certain kind of silence that only exists around classic cars. It’s the moment before the engine turns over, when the light catches the chrome just right and the cabin still carries the faint scent of leather and craftsmanship. It’s also the moment when you realize you’re not simply looking at a vehicle, but at a piece of history that still deserves to be driven. For collectors and enthusiasts, that feeling never really disappears. But neither does the challenge that comes with it: bringing a classic back to life without losing the character that made it special in the first place. This is where TURAH has found its purpose. Built on more than a decade of hands-on experience, TURAH was founded to restore and reimagine iconic Mercedes-Benz classics with a focus that goes far beyond surface-level perfection. Their work is rooted in craftsmanship and engineering discipline, and in the understanding that true quality comes from the parts you don’t immediately see. In a world where the term “restomod” is often used loosely, TURAH approaches the concept with the structure and mindset of a manufacturer rather than a tuner. At the center of TURAH’s operation is its own manufactory, where a dedicated team of over 30 specialists work under one roof. It’s a place where vehicles are approached with patience and structure. For enthusiasts who have spent time around high-end builds, that distinction matters. The difference between a “good-looking classic” and a truly cohesive restoration is often hidden beneath the surface, in the way the car is assembled, how it behaves at speed, and how it feels after the first thousand miles. All TURAH projects begin with a full frame-off restoration, a process that requires the vehicle to be completely disassembled down to its core. This is not a partial refresh or a cosmetic overhaul. It is a full reset. Every component is examined, measured, and restored or rebuilt with a long-term view in mind. It’s a process that demands not only time, but a level of technical confidence that few operations can consistently deliver. To enthusiasts, “frame-off” is more than a buzzword. It is the difference between owning a classic that looks correct and owning a classic that drives like it has been properly brought back from the brink. At TURAH, frame-off restoration means going far beyond cosmetics, including corrosion protection through KTL (cathodic dipping of the body), along with suspension geometry, wiring systems, fuel delivery, and countless other areas that often go untouched in more superficial builds. It also means creating a foundation where modern upgrades can be integrated thoughtfully rather than added as an afterthought. This approach is extensive, but it also reflects the type of clients TURAH attracts. The collectors interested in high-end restorations and restomods are rarely looking for something quick. They are looking for something done properly. Many of them already understand what makes these cars desirable in the first place: the timeless proportions, the unmistakable Mercedes-Benz design language, and the mechanical character that modern vehicles often lack. What they want, however, is a classic that can actually fit into modern life. And that is where the TURAH Restomod Vehicles begin to stand out. Inside the manufactory, classic Mercedes-Benz models such as the W113 Pagoda, the W111 Coupé, the 190SL, and the legendary G-Class platform are brought back with remarkable attention. Some builds remain close to original specifications, maintaining the factory character of the car with a careful restoration that respects its era. Others evolve into full restomod projects, where modern refinement and drivability become part of the vehicle’s identity. The W113 Pagoda is a perfect example of why this market exists at all. Few cars carry such a unique combination of elegance and presence. It is unmistakably a classic, yet still looks relevant in any setting, whether parked outside a contemporary hotel or cruising down a coastal highway. But as charming as the Pagoda is, any owner who has driven an original example knows the compromises that come with it: the steering feel, the braking confidence, the heat management, and the general “old car” behavior that makes the experience more romantic than practical. Restomod work, when done correctly, addresses these weaknesses without erasing the character of the vehicle. The goal is not to turn a classic into something unrecognizable, but to refine what was already special. The same philosophy applies to the W111, a model that embodies the era of Mercedes-Benz grand touring luxury. A properly built W111 Coupe is one of the most elegant silhouettes the brand ever produced. It has the kind of presence that feels effortless, and yet its driving dynamics were designed for a different time. In the hands of a modern restomod builder, that platform becomes a compelling canvas: it can remain visually timeless while gaining the road manners, confidence, and usability expected by today’s collectors. The 190SL, meanwhile, represents a different kind of appeal. It is lighter, more playful, and carries a certain European charm that makes it as much a lifestyle object as it is a vehicle. But it is also a car that requires careful engineering discipline to modernize correctly, particularly if the goal is to preserve its balanced feel. Enthusiasts understand that the best restomod projects are the ones that do not overbuild the car. The trick is always restraint. And then there is the G-Class platform, a name that has become synonymous with status, capability, and durability. The G-Class occupies a unique place in automotive culture: it is a utilitarian machine that has evolved into a luxury icon. For TURAH, the platform offers the opportunity to create restomod vehicles that are both rugged and refined, vehicles that feel at home in modern traffic while still carrying the unmistakable character that made the original G-Wagen legendary. What remains consistent across every project is the way the finished car is meant to feel. A TURAH build is never intended to become a museum piece. Whether it’s a restoration or a restomod, the end result is a vehicle that looks period-correct at first glance, yet feels far more confident on the road than its original counterpart. This is where many restomod builders either succeed or fail. Plenty of shops can build a car that looks impressive under bright showroom lights. Far fewer can deliver a vehicle that feels cohesive at speed, on uneven pavement, in real traffic, or after hours of driving. The difference is often found in the unseen details: suspension tuning, brake feel, the calibration of throttle response, and the subtle integration of modern comfort features. The best restomod vehicles do not feel “modified.” They feel resolved. Customization is another defining part of the TURAH process. Each TURAH Restomod Vehicle can be tailored to the owner’s vision, from paint finishes and interior materials to subtle design choices and technical upgrades. It’s the kind of flexibility that appeals to collectors who know exactly what they want — and who want their car to reflect it. In the world of high-end classics, customization is not simply about personal taste. It is often about building a car that fits the owner’s lifestyle. Some clients prioritize comfort and long-distance usability, opting for subtle refinements that make the vehicle more enjoyable on extended drives. Others lean toward performance and road presence, focusing on driving dynamics, stance, and more aggressive specification choices. Many want a balance of both. What makes customization interesting in this space is that it must remain believable. A restomod should still feel like it belongs within the Mercedes-Benz universe. The best builds are the ones where the modifications feel like they could have been developed by the manufacturer itself, had they chosen to revisit the model decades later with modern tools and knowledge. That philosophy appears to shape the TURAH approach. Their builds are not designed to chase trends or internet attention. They are built with longevity in mind — cars that will still feel relevant years from now, rather than dated by a temporary style. For enthusiasts, that restraint is often the clearest indicator of taste. The result is a rare balance: the charm of a true classic paired with the craftsmanship and usability expected in a modern, bespoke build. It is also the reason why restomods have become such an important segment in the collector world. Many enthusiasts have reached a point where originality alone is no longer the goal. The goal is ownership that feels effortless, without losing the emotional connection that only a classic can offer. After more than a decade of refining its processes, TURAH appears to be entering its next phase. The manufactory continues to expand, capabilities are growing, and new developments are already underway. For a company that has spent years building its reputation through execution rather than noise, it is an interesting moment to watch. In a market where some builders focus heavily on branding and hype, TURAH’s appeal seems to lie in the opposite direction. The brand has built its name through the fundamentals: workmanship, structure, and a disciplined approach to restoration and restomod engineering. That kind of reputation travels quickly among serious collectors, particularly those who understand that the true value of a build often reveals itself only after time. For those who value authenticity but also appreciate thoughtful progress, TURAH represents something increasingly uncommon in the automotive world: a long-term commitment to doing things properly, with the patience and precision that these cars demand. And perhaps that is what makes the brand so compelling. TURAH doesn’t treat these vehicles as objects to be preserved behind glass. Instead, it treats them as icons that can be rebuilt, improved, and enjoyed again, without losing the identity that made them worth saving in the first place. In the end, the appeal of a TURAH Restomod Vehicle is not about chasing modernity. It’s about preserving a feeling. The kind of feeling that only a classic Mercedes-Benz can deliver — the view over a long hood, the sense of mechanical honesty, and the unmistakable presence that comes with a design created in an era when cars were built to last. TURAH simply ensures that the experience matches the promise. Visit Turah.com

Lamborghini Revuelto Becomes Dubai Police’s Fourth Mansory-Built Car

Lamborghini Revuelto Becomes Dubai Police’s Fourth Mansory-Built Car

The Dubai Police is famous the world over for a patrol fleet that looks nothing like traditional law enforcement. What began in 2013 with a single Lamborghini Aventador has grown into what is widely regarded as the largest collection of registered supercars operated by any police force anywhere. When you factor in hypercars, supercars, luxury patrol vehicles, electric performance models, and specialized units, the number of premium vehicles sits firmly in the several dozen range, with a lineup constantly evolving as new cars continue to be added.  The newest headline addition is a Mansory-built Lamborghini Revuelto, now finished in Dubai Police’s now iconic white and green livery. It marks German tuner’s fourth bespoke build to join the Police fleet of the desert metropolis. It follows the Mansory Ferrari Purosangue Pugnator added in late 2025, the 1-of-1 widebody Mansory Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and the Mansory Mercedes-AMG G63. Together, they form a distinct sub-collection within the wider fleet, unified by bold aesthetics and a shared purpose as rolling statement pieces. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kourosh Mansory (@mansory.kour0sh) Visually, this latest build is unmistakably Mansory, featuring extensive use of carbon fiber across the bodywork and aero elements, paired with more aggressive front and rear treatments that dial up the drama of Lamborghini’s first V12 hybrid flagship, which produces roughly 1,001 horsepower. 0 to 60 mph takes about 2.5 seconds, and top speed is rated at 217 mph.  For Dubai Police, the numbers matter less than the impact. From the onset, the idea with the exotic car fleet was never to replace the daily workhorses that do the real heavy lifting across the Emirate, but show up where Dubai’s foot traffic and cameras live, places like Downtown, JBR, and the city’s headline attractions, acting as a high-visibility bridge between officers and the public. Having said that, when the need does arise in a region with some of the highest concentrations of exotic cars in the world, Dubai’s supercar police fleet sure is effective in keeping things under check. The lineup was recently spotted on the opening day of 1000 Mille Miglia UAE in November last year, a venue where classic motoring heritage met modern performance in a setting that felt entirely natural. Last month, even more cars from the fleet were on display during the Dubai Police Carnival in the City Walk, one of Dubai’s most popular lifestyle districts. It effectively became an open-air automotive gallery, with officers engaging directly with visitors. Beyond the Mansory cars, the broader lineup continues to expand with recent additions including the Mercedes-AMG SL 55, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S, and Mercedes-Benz EQS 580, alongside an electric push featuring the Tesla Cybertruck, Lotus Eletre, Lotus Emeya S, and Zeekr 001. Icons such as the Bugatti Veyron, Porsche 918 Spyder, and the Aston Martin One-77 remain key reference points. During our recent interview with Mr. Mansory for the cover story of the December 2025 edition (No.487) of duPont REGISTRY, he hinted at the time that some upcoming surprise builds were in the works for the Dubai Police.  Since then, both the Mansory Revuelto and the Purosangue Pugnator have made their public debuts, and Mr. Mansory has continued to tease what lies ahead on Instagram, suggesting this partnership is far from finished. In a city where license plates can cost more than hypercars, often auctioned for millions, the bar for spectacle is set exceptionally high, and this collaboration shows no signs of slowing down. For clients in the United States, Limited Spec Automotive serves as the exclusive MANSORY USA dealer. The Legend Reimagined: The SVE Powerhouse Under David Hamburger

By Sponsored Article –  February 06, 2026

The SVE Powerhouse Under David Hamburger

Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) engineers automotive legends. For over five decades, SVE has stood as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the Second-Stage Manufacturing world, a journey that began in 1970 when founder Ed Hamburger turned a passion for NASCAR and NHRA dominance into a global performance empire. From the iconic Firehawks and WS-6s of the 90s to today’s world-crushing 1,000HP YENKO/SC® super-trucks, SVE has always been the gold standard for "factory-backed" adrenaline. Company History and Evolution The Beginning: Ed Hamburger started in 1970 with performance parts for Chrysler race cars and later founded Hamburger's Oil Pans, which became a dominant supplier in NASCAR and NHRA. SLP (Street Legal Performance): Formed in 1987, this company (which evolved into SVE) was the first to develop a 50-state emission-legal integrated performance package for the 1988 Camaro and Firebird. GM Partnership: In 1992, the company began producing limited-production specialty vehicles sold through GM dealers, eventually manufacturing over 55,000 units, including the Camaro SS, Firehawk, and WS-6. Transition to SVE: After selling its performance parts assets (SLP) in 2013, the company was renamed Specialty Vehicle Engineering to focus entirely on vehicle manufacturing and its own proprietary centrifugal supercharger systems. Today, the torch of this high-octane dynasty has been passed to David Hamburger, who has taken the helm to lead SVE into a new era of absolute performance dominance. Under David’s visionary leadership, SVE isn't just maintaining the status quo—it is shattering it. David has spearheaded a technological revolution within the company, moving beyond traditional upgrades to master the complexities of modern Direct Injection and proprietary centrifugal supercharger systems that are 50-state emission legal. Key Innovations In-House Superchargers: When GM introduced Direct Injection engines in 2014, SVE developed its own centrifugal superchargers rather than using existing designs, allowing them to offer OE-quality, 50-state emission-legal performance upgrades. Expansion Beyond GM: While primarily focused on GM (Silverado, Tahoe, Escalade, Corvette), SVE has also developed supercharged packages for the Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Challenger/RAM under the "Hamburger's Specialty Vehicles" (HSV) name. The "sizzle" under David’s command is undeniable. He has aggressively expanded the brand’s footprint, bringing the "YENKO" name back to the forefront of the American psyche with breathtaking projects like the 1,250HP Twin-Turbo C8 Corvette and the world’s fastest street-legal Silverados and Tahoes. By combining his father’s relentless commitment to OE-quality engineering with a modern, aggressive "more-is-never-enough" philosophy, David Hamburger is ensuring that SVE remains the apex predator of the performance market. When you sit behind the wheel of a modern SVE vehicle, you aren't just driving a truck or an SUV; you are experiencing the culmination of two generations of Hamburger family genius, refined and perfected for the next century of speed. Stärke’s Gen 2 Speedster Makes a Classic Idea Easy to Live With

Stärke Reveals Its New Gen 2 Speedster

There’s something truly fascinating about the Porsche world and its ever-growing community of passionate owners and enthusiasts. And while there's a niche number of purists who focus solely on matching numbers and original paint, there are also innovators who follow the beat to their own drum, merging the past and present. Specializing in modern coachbuilding, specifically with the Porsche 718 platform, Stärke Motor Company has just revealed its Gen 2 Speedster. Now, this isn’t another 911 restomod that preserves Porsche’s original styling while upgrading performance and tech, but instead a complete, modern reinterpretation of another four-wheel icon, the 356 Speedster.  There’s a reason the Speedster shape still stops people mid-scroll. It’s simple and tied to an era when sports cars felt honest and rebellious. The problem is that actually owning a true vintage Speedster usually means accepting a long list of compromises. That’s where the Stärke Gen 2 Speedster finds its footing. Built on the modern Porsche 718 platform, you still get the low, minimalist silhouette and that unmistakable 1950s styling, but without the stress that usually comes with driving something built decades ago. Underneath the hand-worked bodywork, the Gen 2 Speedster stays grounded in modern Porsche engineering. Stärke uses 3D scanning and CAD design to ensure the custom body fits cleanly over the 718 chassis, so the car's core (drivetrain, suspension, and safety structure) remains exactly where Porsche intended it. Buyers can choose from turbocharged flat-fours or the naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six, fitted with either a manual or PDK transmission. Heated seats, a heated steering wheel, power accessories, and even driver assistance features are all retained, so the car works just as well on a long drive as it does parked at a cars-and-coffee meet. Customization is where the Gen 2 Speedster really becomes personal. Each example is built to order, with owners able to choose paint, interior colors, materials, wheels, and other small details that shape the car’s personality. Pricing starts at $135,000 if you bring your own donor 718, or $189,000 if you’d prefer Stärke handle sourcing, with delivery typically taking around 6 months. Source: Stärke Motor Company

BRABUS Unveils New G 63-Based 900 ROCKET EDITION

By Tyler Rampersaud –  January 15, 2026

BRABUS Unveils New ROCKET 900 EDITION

While its portfolio has experienced a meteoric expansion to include custom supercars based on vehicles from other luxury car manufacturers, transforming vehicles from Mercedes-Benz is the bread and butter of the iconic German customization house. Specifically, BRABUS customizations based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV are some of the most popular vehicles that BRABUS makes, and the new BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION, based on the latest Mercedes-AMG G 63, is the latest and one of the most radical. The 900 name comes from the fact that it boasts 900 horsepower, and 922 lb/ft of torque is another benefit of its twin-turbo V8 engine, with an increased displacement of 4.5 liters, along with a specially engineered forced induction system and a custom exhaust system. What that engineering results in is a 0-60 time of less than 3.7 seconds, an incredibly impressive number for something like a G-Wagon, and a top speed that is electronically limited to 149 mph. Along with performance, BRABUS is also known for the iconic visual aesthetic that its vehicles assume, and in the case of the new 900 ROCKET EDITION, that comes from a specifically developed widebody kit. The kit features an extensive use of exposed carbon fiber, with integrated LEDs adding to its dramatic looks. In addition, new BRABUS “PLATINUM EDITION” wheels, developed specifically for the car, with a Monoblock II three-spoke design and a 24-inch diameter, set the vehicle apart and contribute to the signature BRABUS “1-Second-Wow” effect. Inside, a BRABUS MASTERPIECE interior is upholstered in gorgeous black leather, with quilting in the signature BRABUS “Shell” design, and configurations are available both in complete black and with red contrast piping, the former being for the Signature Black configuration and the latter for the Stealth Gray configuration. Pricing for the new BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION equates roughly to over $660,000, and each example in the limited series will come with a BRABUS Weekender travel bag crafted in fine leather to match the vehicle. Combining luxury, power, and unique aesthetics with stunning craftsmanship, the new 900 ROCKET EDITION is as BRABUS as a G-Class-based conversion gets. Vossen Reimagines Bugatti’s V16 Tourbillon With an Aggres...

The Tourbillon is Bugatti’s latest hypercar, powered by an all-new 8.3-liter V16 engine that, combined with hybrid assistance, delivers nearly 1,800 horsepower, and all 250 units of this $4.0+ million plus exotic have already been spoken for. Out of the box, this exotic is a stark departure from the Chiron that it replaces and already offers plenty of visual drama, its shape driven by not just legacy, but also function, a philosophy Bugatti has documented in detail through its mini doc series released across much of 2025. Now, a fresh set of digital renderings done by Karan Divi featuring rims by Miami-based aftermarket wheel specialist Vossen offers a different perspective. This lands only days after we recently shared footage of Bugatti CEO, Mate Rimac, winter testing the Tourbillon in real-world conditions. Bugatti offers the Tourbillon with four primary standard specifications: Signature, Classique, Sportive, and Extraordinaire, with each featuring unique wheel finishes and designs. View this post on Instagram A post shared by VOSSEN WHEELS (@vossen) Vossen’s take is bold, and instead of a single wheel design, the renders show a split setup. Up front, the Tourbillon wears Vossen’s LC3 11T forged wheels with the LC3 01T on the rear, certainly an unusual choice for a hypercar of this caliber. Both sets feature the same Brushed Gloss Clear finish, which keeps the look cohesive despite the mismatched designs, set against a blue and white exterior. From a practical standpoint, such a setup would raise questions about aspects like Tire availability, ride quality, and protection against road damage on what is essentially one of the fastest cars on the planet. But purely from a visual standpoint, the effect is certainly transformative. These renders do not suggest Bugatti needs help standing out, but instead, they show how even a tightly controlled hypercar design can be reinterpreted through aftermarket imagination, something that we touched on extensively in our feature-exclusive with Manrory last month. BRABUS Unveils New Bentley-Based 900 & 900 SUPERBLACK

Bentley’s flagship performance grand tourer has been officially BRABUS-ized. While much of its history is characterised by its customizations of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, BRABUS has spent more recent chapters radically expanding its portfolio. Now, BRABUS is known for boats, motorcycles, a motorhome, and plenty of exciting customizations of vehicles from other manufacturers like Porsche and Range Rover. Recently, BRABUS also announced new executive leadership as the manufacturer grows, including the appointment of Milica Umicevic as Creative Director. Her role at the manufacturer evolves from an existing position in VIP relations at BRABUS since November 2023, and as the new Creative Director, Umicevic will be at the helm of the artistic, creative, and aesthetic direction of the cherished brand, as well as of the design of new BRABUS Masterpiece vehicles. Among the first cohort of vehicles revealed under Umicevic’s creative direction at BRABUS are the new BRABUS 900 and BRABUS 900 Superblack, which, for the first time, are based on the Bentley Continental GT Speed and Bentley Continental GTC Speed. The standard Bentley Continental GT itself is at the beginning of a new chapter, adopting a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powertrain with a hybrid system to achieve unprecedented performance. Utilizing that and developing it further, the new BRABUS 900 develops an immense 900 horsepower with 811 lb/ft of torque on tap. Getting from 0-60 in the BRABUS 900 Superblack or the BRABUS 900 Cabriolet, shown in a “Pale Brown” configuration, takes only 2.9 seconds. The Superblack coupe gets to 208 mph, while the convertible reaches 172 mph. Active valve control means that the exhaust sound is configurable from sonorous to subtle, and an incredible custom body kit gives it a signature BRAUBS aesthetic, as well as aerodynamic enhancement for performance, and custom monoblock wheels also give the cars a bespoke aesthetic. Various interior options are available for the Bentley-based BRABUS 900 supercars, and they are showcased in black and “Nocturne Brown” leather, with a special BRABUS “Shell” design in the quilting. With signature BRABUS luxury displayed on a new breed of grand tourers, the new BRABUS 900 and BRABUS 900 Superblack supercars based on the Bentley Continental GT Speed are an exciting new endeavor for the cherished customization house. Brabus Debuts 800 Cabrio and XL 800 Cabrio

Two distinct takes on the niche Convertible G-Class format The convertible G Class continues to remain rare and highly sought after on the secondary market. Factory open-top models have existed in minimal numbers, and once production ceased, anyone wanting a convertible G faced has had limited options. This has left a gap in the market for specialist aftermarket engineering firms to create solutions that are structurally validated machines with purpose. German tuner Brabus, amongst others, has since stepped into this lucrative space of an open-top G-Class, and the latest to join their lineup are the XL 800 Cabrio and 800 Cabrio.  The convertible architecture is the key achievement here. Both models use a soft top system built from more than 500 components and reinforced with high-strength steel to maintain torsional rigidity equal to the closed-top G 63. The roof opens or closes in 20 seconds and features heated rear glass. A carbon fiber surface bow stabilizes airflow and reduces wind noise. The C BOW steel roll bar integrates into the body and uses exposed carbon elements that signal both structure and design intent.   Where the two models differ is in the hardware below. The XL uses portal axles designed for extreme off-road traction and clearance. Riding on 22-inch forged Monoblock Z HD wheels, it wraps around 325-section all-terrain tires and measures 82.6 inches in overall width. The 800 Cabrio uses 24-inch Monoblock ZM Platinum Edition wheels with 295-section front and 345-section rear high-performance tires aimed at road grip. Exterior finishing is equally detailed, with the 800 XL Cab XL featuring a Pale Brown finish, where the standard 800 Cab features a stealthy black finish. Further highlights include full paint conversion of chrome and plastic surfaces, exposed carbon body elements, illuminated grille logos, and complete WIDESTAR body systems.    Inside, the XL features Ravion Red leather throughout the cabin, trunk, and footwells with Shell quilting, whereas the 800 Cabrio contrasts Oxford Sand and Cairo's Brown leather and integrates Airscarf heating into the headrests for comfort at speed with the roof down. Both use quilted floors, carbon controls, and illuminated entrance panels.  Under the hood, both versions run a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 800 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque through a Speedshift TCT nine-speed transmission that you can control manually using carbon paddles. A valve-controlled exhaust system changes tone instantly at the press of a button, shifting from restrained to a full V8 profile depending on the setting. The 800 Cabrio can hit 62 mph in 4.0 seconds and reaches a limited top speed of 149 miles per hour. The XL variant peaks at 130 miles per hour and focuses on stability under load rather than outright speed. As for pricing, the XL will set you back roughly €1.05 million or $1.22 million (based on current exchange rates), while the standard 800 Cabrio will set you back €906k or $1.04 million.
