The Magma GT Concept just set a new tone for the Genesis brand. Unveiled in Le Castellet, France, it represents the foundation of the next decade of Genesis performance cars under its Magma performance division, including a path into GT racing. The company has already confirmed entry into the WEC grid in 2026 with the GMR-001 hypercar that will be powered by a twin-turbo V8.
While we have seen some truly stunning concept cars from Genesis before, like the Gran Coupe and Convertible, the Magma GT takes a different direction, adopting a proper mid-engine supercar silhouette, which is a first for parent company, Hyundai Motor Group. While signature Genesis design elements like the split LED DRLs are present upfront, the blacked-out A-pillars should remind you of a certain Swedish marque.

Finished in a striking shade of orange, you’ll notice the low-set hood and the boat-tail cabin that narrows toward the rear. It maximizes the "low and wide" stance essential for high-speed stability. The front canards integrate directly into the headlamps to generate necessary downforce, while the G-Matrix patterns on the front splitter function as active airflow elements.
“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability. It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed — it is defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless.”- Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer, Genesis.
This launch aligns specifically with the strategy revealed at the CEO Investor Day in New York this past September. Supporting that strategy, Genesis recently announced a new design center in El Segundo, California, to expand its global design capability and evolve future performance products with international input.
What also makes this moment significant is how quickly Genesis has climbed the global luxury ladder. The South Korean brand has earned high praise for its diversified lineup of luxury sedans like the G80 and G90, along with SUVs like the GV70 and GV7=80, models that can rival European counterparts in terms of refinement and technology.

Besides the Magma GT concept, Genesis also showcased the 640-horsepower GV60 and the G90 Wingback Magma Concept Wagon. But the halo model will guide its portfolio for the next ten years, and by committing to a mid-rear engine platform and future motorsport entries, Genesis is establishing the pedigree necessary to compete more effectively against established marques.
