Maserati Spy Shots Reveal What’s Coming Next

Spy shots have always fueled the automotive world, giving enthusiasts grainy sneak peeks at what’s coming next, but when the footage comes straight from the manufacturer itself, it's like a real progress update with a behind-the-scenes look at testing, development, and production. Maserati isn’t hiding anything from its global fanbase these days, most recently, giving the world a first look at the GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale prototypes during road testing.    GALLERY-EMBED Maserati GranTurismo Prototype All testing is performed on public roads near the marque’s historic Viale Ciro Menotti facility. It’s the same area where all in-house operations continue to design and engineer its lineup, making the roads surrounding Modena a natural setting and key piece of the development process. What makes the location useful is the diversity in driving conditions packed into a relatively small region.  GALLERY-EMBED Maserati GranCabrio Prototype Within a short drive, engineers and test drivers can move from crowded city streets to hilly backroads and higher-speed highway sections, helping evaluate how new Maseratis perform in everyday driving conditions for future owners. The camouflage may hide the final details, but the purpose of the testing is straightforward: gather data, improve, and continue dialing in the cars before production moves forward. Maserati Celebrates 100 Years Of The Trident

Throughout the year thus far, Maserati has noted in various announcements that 2026 marks one of the most special years for the brand yet, as it marks a century since Maserati debuted its iconic Trident emblem, as well as a century since its debut in the world of motorsport. The two happened at the same time, as Alfieri Maserati brought the Maserati Tipo 26 to the Targa Florio race, marking Maserati’s first appearance at a race, and the first appearance of a Maserati bearing the Trident. That happened on April 25, 1926, which means the official anniversary of the event came this past weekend. Now that the date has taken place, Maserati is building even more excitement than before about the centenary, with a new communication program set to trace the past 100 years of Maserati history by highlighting the most iconic cars that came about throughout that time. Alongside that, Maserati’s events throughout the year will highlight the milestone, and a new Italian postage stamp has been created to mark the centenary. The process of creating the logo began in 1925, when the family’s artist, Mario Maserati, created the first drawing of the Trident. Bologna’s Fountain of Neptune served as its inspiration, and the emblem ended up on the Tipo 26 that was entered in the Targa Florio’s 1500cc class and won the class in 1926. That moment began an incredible legacy, which continued with success at the 1939 and 1940 Indianapolis 500 races, Targa Florio wins from 1937 through 1940, Formula 1 wins and a Formula 1 championship victory in 1957, FIA GT championship wins with the MC12 in the 2000s, and the current legacy of the Maserati GT2. Along with Maserati’s presence in motorsport, the Trident itself evolved throughout the years, taking on several different designs, with the latest redesign taking place in 2020 with the introduction of a new Maserati lineup led by the MC20 supercar. A new video has been created chronicling much of that history, showcasing legends like the Tipo 26, the Ghibli, the MC12, and today’s GranTurismo Trofeo, Grecale Trofeo, and MCXtrema. Created with 3D animation and artificial intelligence, the video is enhanced with an AI recreation of Maria Teresa de Filippis’ voice. Serving as the video’s narration, the use of her voice is a nod to her incredible legacy as the first woman to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix as a Maserati driver in 1958, and her longstanding legacy as a Maserati motorsport icon. Alongside the video, the campaign features visuals that read: “100 YEARS OF THE TRIDENT” with the word “ride” in the middle of “Trident” in bold. Reaching an incredible milestone after 100 years, Maserati is spending the rest of 2026 in a celebratory mood. View All Maserati For Sale Image Source: Stellantis

Maserati Delivers MCXtrema Supercar In Tampa, FL

Natural light flooded the showroom of the Maserati Tampa dealership during golden hour this past Saturday, and the room was filled with excited VIP guests who all gathered to celebrate the delivery of one of Maserati’s most exclusive creations yet: the MCXtrema. duPont REGISTRY had the privilege of attending the exclusive private event. A track-only masterpiece, the MCXtrema features the most extreme performance that Maserati’s Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine offers, with 730 horsepower, along with extreme aerodynamics and a lightweight design purely dedicated to performance excellence. Matching the combined number of track-only and road-legal Maserati MC12 examples made, the production run of the MCXtrema consists of just 62 examples, which made the Tampa delivery event a particularly memorable one. The owner is Michael Moss, a racing enthusiast and a collector whose other vehicles include motorsport classics and various automotive masterpieces. About the MCXtrema, he said, “This car represents everything I love about performance and engineering. From the moment I began working with Maserati on this car, I wanted to create something truly personal and as focused as possible for the track. Being part of the journey, from visiting Modena and attending the GT2 European Series to experiencing the car on track with Andrea Bertolini at Monza, made this delivery incredibly meaningful. I can’t wait to push it to its limits in GT competition.” <- Gallery -> Created as a bespoke commission with the very best the MCXperience program has to offer, Moss’s MCXtrema features a unique Italian flag livery and is designated as the final VIN in the 62-car production run. Moss worked closely with Maserati’s team, as well as its Corse motorsport division. The configuration included multiple visits to Modena and Turin, Italy, and close collaboration with Klaus Busse, Maserati’s Head of Design. Busse’s signature is on the transmission cooling air scoop, and a hand-drawn sketch also commemorates the relationship. The configuration also includes the lack of a passenger seat and the inclusion of telemetry options, a quick refueling kit, an advanced tire pressure monitoring system, and more. That’s because, rather than spending its life in a garage or only coming out for occasional track days, Michael Moss’s new Maserati MCXtrema is destined for competitive racing, specifically in the International GT Series, which is coming to Lime Rock this May. Witnessing an ultra-exclusive piece of Italian automotive excellence being handed over to a passionate owner with a desire to showcase the car’s full potential, the Maserati MCXtrema delivery event at Maserati Tampa was a milestone moment that took place during the 100th anniversary year of Maserati’s Trident and motorsport history. Maserati At The Anantara Concorso Roma

Maserati is currently having one of the most significant milestone years in its century-long history, as 2026 marks the centenary of its iconic Trident emblem, as well as the centenary of Maserati’s involvement in motorsport. That makes 2026 not only a perfect year to celebrate the Maserati brand that exists today, but also a perfect time to look back on the incredible legacy of Maserati classics. Recently, Maserati Classiche, the department within the manufacturer dedicated to preserving history, celebrating classics, and restoring cars, issued its 100th Certificate of Authenticity. That was given to one of just five 3500 GT Convertible Vignale prototype cars in existence. That stunning historical rarity was one of the Maserati cars displayed at the recently held inaugural iteration of the Anantara Concorso Roma, a concours event that saw the participation of more than 70 incredibly rare and prestigious Italian cars owned across the globe. Maserati was an official partner of the event, and as such, the 1927 Maserati Tipo 26B and the 1954 A6GCS-53 Berlinetta Pininfarina were both alongside the 1959 3500 GT Convertible Vignale prototype at the event. Maserati’s modern masterpieces were also present, including the GT2 Stradale and MCPura supercars, and a private collector’s 1931 Maserati V4 Sport Zagato won the Best of Show Award, as it was there with other privately owned cars like a 3500 GT Vignale Spider, a 3500 GT Vignale Spider “prototype,” and a Ghibli SS. With award-winning classics throughout the event, Maserati’s significant presence at the inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma made the new Italian concours a truly special showcase of automotive excellence. Maserati Classiche Marks 100 Certificates Of Authenticity

Maserati has one of the most storied histories in the entire automotive industry, and 2026 is an especially poignant year for the brand, as it marks 100 years since the introduction of its legendary Trident emblem, as well as the 100th anniversary of Maserati’s involvement in motorsport. As Maserati celebrates its dual milestone centenary, Maserati Classiche, the division of the brand dedicated to preserving that rich heritage, has marked the issuance of its 100th Certificate of Authenticity. That certificate was given to a Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype, a stunning example of the beginning of Maserati’s grand touring convertible legacy. Established in 2021, the Maserati Classiche program, as part of many services it provides, issues Certificates of Authenticity to cars over twenty years old, as well as for special models and limited series. A committee of experts examines cars with historical documents, Maserati archives, and their technical features before issuing a certificate. Only five examples of the Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype were made, and it was unveiled at the 1959 Turin Motor Show. A styling exercise for Vignale, the car wasn’t originally meant for series production, but the reception it had called for a production car to be made, and 250 units were. The formula would serve as a blueprint for decades of future Maserati convertibles, combining compelling performance with luxurious elegance and dashing style. <- Gallery -> In addition to issuing Certificates of Authenticity, Maserati Classiche also supports restorations of classics, including the one that the 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype underwent between 2023 and 2026 in Modena, which is also the city in which it was built. The car was restored to the exact specifications that it had when it was first presented at the Turin Motor Show. It features a silver exterior and an interior combining ivory and red upholstery with blue carpets and gold details. Under the hood lies a 3.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower, which is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Showcasing the incredible legacy of open-top luxury performance at its beginning, the restoration and certification of the Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype by Maserati Classiche is a gorgeous reminder of the legacy that continues with today’s Maserati GranCabrio lineup. Maserati’s Trident Turns 100 and Earns Its Place on Italy's Stamp

Every automaker takes pride in the cars it builds today, but there’s something special about the place where it all began and the roots that shaped the brand in the first place. In Italy, that connection runs deep, where iconic names like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, and Pagani have grown into symbols of Italian craftsmanship, carrying decades, and even a century, of heritage into every car they put on the road and racetrack. This week in Rome, Maserati marked the 100th anniversary of its iconic Trident logo with the unveiling of a commemorative philatelic stamp celebrating its centenary and the first race win at the 1926 Targa Florio in the legendary Tipo 26.Presented at the historic Palazzo Piacentini in Rome as part of Italy’s “Excellence of the Production and Economic System” stamp series, the Maserati commemorative stamp sets the Modena automaker alongside some of the country’s most celebrated historic brands. Maserati now marks 112 years since its founding, making it the oldest surviving marque in Italy’s famed Motor Valley.
